Netanyahu: «Israel no se opone a un programa nuclear civil en Irán»

El primer ministro, Biniamín Netanyahu, afirmó que Israel no se opone a un programa nuclear civil en Irán, sino a uno militar.

Netanyahu se reunió con el primer ministro italiano, Matteo Renzi, durante una visita oficial a Italia, donde subrayó que el acuerdo nuclear firmado entre las potencias mundiales e Irán permite a la República Islámica conservar una infraestructura que no es necesaria para un programa nuclear pacífico.

«Quiero dejar en claro, Matteo, que Israel no se opone a un programa nuclear civil en Irán. Nos oponemos a un programa nuclear militar en Irán», enfatizó Netanyahu. «Y lamentablemente, el acuerdo con Irán le permite mantener y ampliar una infraestructura nuclear formidable que es completamente innecesaria para fines nucleares civiles; pero que es completamente necesaria para la producción de armas nucleares».

«El acuerdo le dará a Irán dentro de trece años la capacidad de fabricar la mayor cantidad de centrifugadoras que quieran, enriquecer tanto uranio como quieran y al nivel que ellos quieran», añadió el primer ministro.

«Y esto pondrá el estado islámico iraní, que practica el terrorismo en todo el mundo, en el umbral de un arsenal nuclear entero», agregó.

Netanyahu puntualizó que «antes de que eso ocurra, Irán obtendrá cientos de miles de millones de dólares en alivio a las sanciones e inversiones para impulsar su agresión y el terrorismo en el Medio Oriente, África del Norte y más allá».

Las declaraciones de Netanyahu se produjeron aparentemente en respuesta a las recientes afirmaciones hechas por el presidente estadounidense, Barack Obama, quien insistió el que el pacto alcanzado con Irán «bloquea en todos los sentidos, todas las vías que Irán podría usar para obtener un arma nuclear».

En un discurso ofrecido en vivo online a la comunidad judía de Estados Unidos, organizado junto con las Federaciones Judías de América del Norte y la Conferencia de Presidentes de las Principales Organizaciones Judías Estadounidenses, Obama expresó que «el compromiso con Israel es sacrosanto, no partidista, y siempre lo será».

«Es importante recordar que en este debate todos estamos a favor de Israel. El vínculo entre EE.UU. e Israel no es político, no es una alianza de conveniencia. Crece desde los lazos familiares. Vínculos que se remontan a generaciones. Todos somos una familia», puso de relieve Obama.

Israel y EE.UU. han estado manteniendo conversaciones sobre cooperación en materia de seguridad desde hace meses, reveló Obama, quien agregó que esos discusiones incluyen la posible cooperación en programas de defensa antimisiles de última generación y la mejora de la inteligencia para «contrarrestar a los aliados (proxies) de Irán».

«Hemos estado en conversaciones con el gobierno israelí desde hace meses sobre la importancia de volver a la senda del trabajo conjunto para mejorar nuestra cooperación en materia de seguridad», expresó, y agregó que «tenemos que impedir que Irán envíe armas y misiles a Hezbollah».

«No vamos a renunciar a nuestra capacidad de responder militarmente contra Irán si deciden irrumpir» [hacia la bomba], aseguró Obama.
