Los grupos terroristas sacan provecho de las malas condiciones climáticas para perpetrar atentados contra el Ejército sirio y tomar el control de importantes zonas estratégicas.
Una tormenta de arena azota desde hace días el norte de África y Medio Oriente. No sólo ha provocado víctimas en el Líbano, sino también ha afectado distintos conflictos que hay en curso en esa región.
Terroristas del Estado Islámico utilizaron el clima adverso para tomar el poder deuna serie de bases aéreas clave para el régimen sirio de Bashar al Assad.
Los yihadistas sacaron provecho de esta tormenta durante la noche para llevar a cabo ataques suicidas en una base estratégica al este de Siria. Uno de ellos fue realizado por un niño, que mató a 18 soldados.
El Estado Islámico utilizó a dos kamikazes para atacar a los uniformados que custodiaban la zona del aeropuerto militar de Deir ez-Zor. Los terroristas se inmolaron en coches cargados de explosivos, según el Observatorio Sirio para los Derechos Humanos.
«Fue uno de los ataques más feroces del Estado Islámico en el aeropuerto», señaló Rami Abdel Rahman, director del Observatorio, quien agregó que además de los 18 soldados, hubo 23 yihadistas muertos.
El grupo extremista ya controla la mayor parte de la provincia de Deir ez-Zor, rica en petróleo, incluyendo cerca de la mitad de su capital. Pero desde hace un año intenta tomar el aeropuertoy el resto de la ciudad.
Si el Estado Islámico tiene éxito, Deir ez-Zor sería la segunda capital de la provincia en caer en manos del grupo yihadista después de la norteña ciudad de Raqqa, nombrada capital del califato de ISIS.
A raíz de la reducida visibilidad de los últimos días, el régimen sirio bajó el flujo de aviones de guerra y helicópteros. Los combatientes de ISIS, en cambio, utilizaron el fuerte temporal como parte de su estrategia.
La red terrorista Al Qaeda también hizo uso de la tormenta de arena para perpetrar distintos ataques a través del Frente al Nusra, brazo armado del grupo en Siria, según consigna Daily Mail.
