Los organismos de seguridad de Israel han desmantelado una amplia red vinculada al movimiento islamista palestino Hamasen la ciudad cisjordana de Qalqilia, que planeaba realizar «actividades terroristas» y detenido a 24 de sus integrantes.
En un comunicado el Ejército israelí informa de que, en conjunción con el Servicio de Inteligencia Interno y la Policía, localizó a los cabecillas de la organización, que controlaban la actividad desde sus cuarteles generales en esa zona cisjordana, y donde supervisaban la actividad y planificaban cometer ataques.
La red estaba dirigida, guiada y financiada por miembros de la oficina general de Hamas en Qatar y Gaza, asegura la nota, que cifra en 24 los detenidos supuestamente vinculados con el grupo.
Entre ellos, dice que se incluyen destacadas figuras del movimiento islamista que habían sido previamente arrestadas por su participación y planificación en «actividad terrorista de Hamas».
En las pesquisas se hallaron 35.000 shekels (8.300 euros o 8.930 dólares), que se sospecha guardan relación con actividad terrorista.
Las Fuerzas Armadas israelíes subrayan que la infraestructura de Hamas en Qalqilia es una de las más antiguas y arraigadas de toda Cisjordania.
Desde que estalló la ola de violencia a principios de octubre, cerca de 75 palestinos han muertopor disparos de las fuerzas de Israel, en gran parte, de los casos a raíz de un ataque previo.
Por su parte, al menos diez israelíes han perdido la vida durante este mismo período. Según el Ejército de Israel, desde que comenzó la escalada de violencia se han registrado más de una treintena de ataques.
