Golda Meir (Meyerson)  nacida Golda Mabovitch (Kiev, Ucrania, 3 de mayo de 1898 y falleció en Jerusalén, el 8 de diciembre de 1978), fue una política, diplomática y, como estadista, la quinta primera ministra de Israel. Fue la primera mujer en Israel y tercera en el mundo en asumir tan alto cargo.

Antes de ser jefa de Gobierno fue embajadora del Estado de Israel en la Unión Soviética, ministra de Trabajo, ministra de Interior y ministra de Relaciones Exteriores.

Fue elegida secretaria general de Mapai en 1966 y se convirtió en líder de la oposición, así como la primera mujer en dirigir un partido político importante en Israel.​ Tras la repentina muerte de Levi Eshkol, el partido eligió a Meir como su sucesora,​ asumiendo el cargo el 17 de marzo de 1969.

Su mandato estuvo marcado por las luchas internas dentro del gabinete de coalición, con serios desacuerdos y conflictos. Finalmente Golda dimitió en 1974, dejando la dirección a su sucesor, Isaac Rabin.

Visitó la Argentina en tres ocasiones: en abril de 1951 siendo Ministro de Trabajo de Israel; viajó a la Argentina para agradecer a Evita su ayuda a Israel; en 1959 siendo la Canciller israelí (Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores); y, en 1968, siendo Secretaria General del Partido Avodá. Gran cantidad de público se da cita cada vez que vino, en el Estadio «Luna Park» de Buenos Aires.
En 1951, visitó Buenos Aires y se reunió de manera muy afectiva con Eva Perón, por la labor realizada en favor del Estado de Israel. El Gobierno de Perón fue uno de los primeros en reconocer al Estado de Israel y fue uno de los pocos que le brindaron ayuda humanitaria durante la guerra de la «independencia israelí»… hasta el día de hoy, pueden verse en algunos kibbutz muebles, emplementos agrícolas, frazadas y sabanas con el sello de la Fundación Eva Perón.
A fines del 1968 representan a la Música Folklórica Argentina en un Acto de Confraternidad Argentino-Israelí ante mí en el Luna Park de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
