Un trabajador israelí resultó herido este miércoles por disparos desde el norte de la Franja de Gaza hacia Israel.

Al hombre lo trasladaron al Hospital Barzilai en Ashkelón con heridas leves en la pierna, expresó el ejército israelí.

Se trata de un empleado de una empresa civil contratada por el ministerio de Defensa para el mantenimiento de la barrera de seguridad que separa a Israel del enclave palestino.

A principios de este mes, el ministerio anunció la finalización de la barrera fronteriza, que se extiende por toda la frontera entre Israel y Gaza. Su construcción se anunció en 2016, dos años después de que Hamás utilizara túneles subterráneos para atacar a soldados de las FDI durante la Operación Margen protector.

El ejército, además, ordenó a los agricultores que se alejaran de las tierras cercanas a la frontera con Gaza.

Por su parte, los medios palestinos informaron posteriormente que tanques israelíes apuntaron a varios puestos de Hamás en el norte de Gaza. Las FDI lo confirmaron.

Los palestinos informaron que varios agricultores resultaron heridos por los ataques israelíes. El Ministerio de Salud palestino confirmó la existencia de tres víctimas, sin confirmar su estado.

Las FDI abrieron una investigación sobre el incidente que se produce en medio de intensos esfuerzos por alcanzar un alto al fuego a largo plazo tras la escalada de violencia en mayo.

También ocurre un día después de una reunión del presidente de la Autoridad Palestina, Mahmoud Abbas, y el ministro de Defensa, Benny Gantz, en el domicilio particular de Gantz en Rosh Ha’ayin. Se trata de la primera visita de Abbas a Israel desde 2016, cuando acudió al funeral de Shimon Peres. Y, además, la primera reunión oficial que sostiene en territorio israelí desde el año 2010.

Hamás arremetió contra Abbas por la reunión y la calificó de “puñalada en la espalda”.
