El ex presidente del Tribunal Supremo de Sudáfrica se disculpó por comentarios que hizo en 2020 prometiendo apoyo a Israel.
Se trata de Mogoeng Mogoeng, quien pidió disculpas por unos dichos que generaron conflictos hace dos años.
En un seminario web, Mogoeng afirmó: «No puedo, como cristiano, hacer otra cosa que amar y orar por Israel porque sé que el odio hacia Israel por parte mía y de mi nación solo puede atraer maldiciones sin precedentes sobre nuestra nación”.
Además, agregó que Sudáfrica se estaba “negando (a sí misma) una maravillosa oportunidad de cambiar las reglas del juego en la situación israelí-palestina».
«Sabemos lo que significa estar en desacuerdo, una nación en guerra consigo misma», dijo.
Un año después, se le ordenó al ex mandatario del Tribunal Supremo de Sudáfrica a que se disculpara por su mala conducta enredándose en una controversia política, «criticando y proponiendo cambios en la política oficial del gobierno sudafricano hacia Israel». En ese momento se negó y apeló una decisión del Comité de Conducta Judicial del país de que se disculpe.

Pero la decisión anterior se confirmó y este comunicó: «Ahora estoy obligado por la ley a disculparme incondicionalmente».
El panel de apelaciones determinó que se involucró en «actividades extrajudiciales».
