Combatientes rebeldes sirios tomaron el control del paso fronterizo de Al Quneitra, que separa Siria de los Altos del Golán, el cual está en manos de Israel.
Según el Observatorio Sirio de Derechos Humanos, al menos veinte miembros de las fuerzas del régimen sirio y de sus milicias afines, entre ellos miembros del jihadista Frente al Nusra, murieron en los enfrentamientos.
En las filas insurgentes hay al menos cuatro combatientes fallecidos y decenas de heridos, aunque se desconoce exactamente el número de bajas que ha sufrido el Frente al Nusra, considerado como la filial siria de Al Qaeda.
Los combates entre ambos bandos prosiguen en la localidad de Mehadama y en las zonas de Yabaa, Tel Korum y Al Rauadi.
Los rebeldes anunciaron el inicio de la ofensiva «La promesa del derecho», que tiene como objetivo capturar, además del paso fronterizo de Al Quneitra, Mehadama y Al Rauadi.
