Varios medios de comunicación presentaron la noticia sin el menor matiz, tratándola como una curiosidad política. Pero sin contexto ni análisis que acompañara tales expresiones el lector desprevenido podía quedar bajo la impresión equivocada de que un espasmo de pacifismo cubrió a los camaradas ideológicos del ISIS. Hezbolá es un movimiento chií enemistado mortalmente con los combatientes sunitas de Abu Baker al Bagdadi y pelean cuerpo a cuerpo contra ellos en Siria. En París operaron islamistas que activaron sus cinturones con explosivos, matando así a docenas de personas. Adivine qué grupo terrorista asesinó a soldados franceses en el Líbano en los años ochenta por medio de atacantes suicidas. Así es, el mismísimo Hezbolá, que en la década siguiente repitió la hazaña por dos veces en la misma ciudad, Buenos Aires, contra diplomáticos israelíes y contra ciudadanos argentinos. Hamás es sunita, pero busca distanciarse del salvajismo del ISIS para preservar ante la opinión pública biempensante europea su imagen prístina de luchador contra el ocupante sionista en la Franja de Gaza. ¿Recuerda qué grupo terrorista inauguró la modalidad del terrorismo suicida contra pizzerías, universidades y autobuses en Israel, veinte años atrás? Así es, el mismísimo Hamas, que apenas el año pasado lanzó miles de misiles contra ciudades israelíes. En cuanto a los guerreros santos de la Yihad Islámica Palestina, digamos que cuando no están lanzando cohetes están aplaudiendo los apuñalamientos que sus correligionarios cometen contra hombres, mujeres y niños en Israel.

El hecho fue periodísticamente relevante, sin duda alguna. Podría decirse que era una nota inusual. De color, inclusive. Pero no era complicado darse cuenta de que se trataba de lágrimas vertidas por cocodrilos. ¿Es mucho pedirle a Vicki Vale que cuando ve al Joker condenar las fechorías del Pingüino en Gotham City se muestre, cuando menos, escéptica?
