Tras crisis política y en medio de revelaciones de videos, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski renunció a la presidencia de Perú, según confirmaron fuentes allegadas. La carta de renuncia será enviada al Congreso y mañana en el pleno sería aceptada. La decisión se dio a conocer en el Consejo de Ministros.
Su padre fue Maxime Kuczynski, un médico alemán de ascendencia judío-polaca, pionero en el tratamiento de enfermedades tropicales que se instaló junto a su familia en la Amazonia peruana desde mediados de la década de 1930. Allí, se desempeñó como director del Leprosario de San Pablo, razón por la cual Pedro Pablo vivió parte de su infancia en Iquitos, Loreto. Posteriormente, su padre sería catedrático de medicina tropical en la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos de Lima, así como jefe de Salud Pública del Ministerio de Salud del gobierno peruano.
El aún presidente Kuczynski tenía previsto dar un Mensaje a la Nación, sin embargo, decidió solo presentar la carta de renuncia al Congreso de la República.
Mañana en el pleno del Congreso se debatiría la aceptación de la renuncia, según fuentes allegadas al Ejecutivo. El hecho se dio a conocer durante el Consejo de Ministro realizada hoy en Palacio de Gobierno.
La renuncia a la presidencia de la República se dio tras las revelaciones de videos en los que se buscaba el apoyo de congresistas ante la vacancia presidencial.
