Hay 6 países que podrían trasladar sus embajadas a Jerusalén

El primer ministro de Israel, Benjamín Netanyahu, reveló que al menos 6 países están en conversaciones para trasladar sus embajadas a Jerusalén.

Durante la ceremonia con los nuevos diplomáticos extranjeros en Israel durante el Día de la Independencia, en la residencia del presidente Reuven Rivlin, Netanyahu instó a los países alrededor del mundo a que siguieran los pasos de EE.UU. y Guatemala, señalando que ello avanzaría los esfuerzos de paz, y prometió un “trato preferencial” a las primeras diez embajadas reubicadas en la capital de Israel.

“Estamos contentos con la decisión del presidente estadounidense Trump de trasladar la embajada aquí. Dice algo simple: la paz debe basarse en la verdad”, dijo Netanyahu a los diplomáticos aludiendo a la idea de Jerusalén como la capital de Israel, no a la idea contraria de un Estado Palestino, como estos últimos reclaman y que tratan de despojar, además, la historia judía de la ciudad. “Reconocer la realidad es la forma de construir la paz. No se puede construir la paz sobre la base de mentiras porque choca contra las rocas de la realidad”, agregó.

“El hecho de que Israel tiene una ciudad capital, que el pueblo judío ha tenido una ciudad capital durante 3.000 años llamada Jerusalén, es innegable. Es hora de reconocer ese hecho. Me complace decir que hay al menos media docena de países que hablan seriamente con nosotros sobre la reubicación de sus embajadas en Jerusalén, y gracias Guatemala por hacerlo. Habrá más que sigan sus pasos”, dijo el primer ministro, sin identificar a los países. “Existe un principio simple, lo saben: ‘atender primero a los que llegan primero’”, continuó Netanyahu. “He decidido que las primeras diez embajadas que lleguen aquí obtendrán un trato preferencial. ¡Les ayudaremos!”

Trump prometió trasladar la embajada de EE.UU. a Jerusalén en diciembre pasado, cuando también la reconoció formalmente como la capital de Israel. En enero, anunció que se aceleraría el proceso y que se trasladaría en mayo, coincidiendo con la fecha histórica del establecimiento de Israel en 1948. Aunque en un primer momento Trump sugirió que estaría presente, su asistencia no ha sido confirmada, pero el portal The Times of Israel reportó recientemente que su hija y yerno, además de asesor suyo, Ivanka y Jared Kushner, podrían asistir.

Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, lanzó visos de seguir los pasos de Trump casi al mismo tiempo que este, e hizo el anuncio oficial en marzo pasado, confirmando que trasladará su embajada dos días después. En Honduras, el presidente del país, Juan Orlando Hernández y su Congreso ya realizan los preparativos legales para un posible traslado.
