Con una fuerte condena al accionar del terrorismo internacional, se realizó esta mañana, en la sede de la AMIA, el acto homenaje a las víctimas de los atentados perpetrados por Al Qaeda en suelo estadounidense el 11 de septiembre de 2001.
Luego de encender una vela para honrar la memoria de los caídos en los atentados contra las Torres Gemelas y el Pentágono, y en todos los actos planificados por el terrorismo, el acto tuvo como oradores principales al embajador de los Estados Unidos en la Argentina, Edward C. Prado, al presidente de AMIA, Ariel Eichbaum, y al Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto de la Argentina, Jorge Faurie.
“Hace 18 años los ataques del 11 de septiembre se robaron cerca de 3 mil vidas inocentes. Si bien el tiempo sigue pasando, la herida nunca sanará por completo», expresó el embajador Edward C. Prado. “Ninguna nación es inmune al terrorismo. Quiero destacar a la Argentina por haber reconocido a Al Qaeda y a Hezbollah como lo que son: Terroristas», agregó.
Ariel Eichbaum, quien agradeció la participación de todos los presentes en el acto, se refirió a la amenaza global que constituye el terrorismo. “Acostumbrarnos al horror es algo que no nos podemos permitir”, advirtió. “Volvemos a hacer un llamado de atención para que las democracias del mundo extremen sus esfuerzos en la lucha contra el terrorismo y para que todas las personas podamos vivir en sociedades que garanticen la convivencia pacífica en la diversidad”, remarcó.
Por su parte, Jorge Faurie, sostuvo que “La Argentina tiene un compromiso contra el terrorismo. Es el compromiso íntimo de todos los argentinos y de todos los pueblos de que tenemos que llevar a la Justicia y condenar con vehemencia total a aquellos que preconizan el terrorismo. Los argentinos estamos con la paz y condenamos la violencia”.
Entre los presentes se encontraban representantes diplomáticos de Rusia, Reino Unido, Israel, Alemania, España, y Uruguay. Además de la participación del Vicecanciller argentino, Gustavo Zlauvinen, el Secretario de Derechos Humanos y Pluralismo Cultural de la Nación, Claudio Avruj, y la subsecretaria Derechos Humanos y Pluralismo Cultural de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Pamela Malewicz. También asistieron autoridades comunitarias tales como el presidente del Congreso Judío Mundial, Adrián Werthein, el Director Ejecutivo del Congreso Judío Latinoamericano, Claudio Epelman, y el presidente de la Organización Sionista Argentina, Sergio Pikholtz, entre otros.
