El Parlamento danés está a punto de considerar un proyecto de ley que contempla prohibir las circuncisiones no médicas.

Un político de izquierda presentó el proyecto para introducir un límite de edad a esa práctica religiosa. Rechazo de la comunidad judía danesa.

Henri Goldstein, presidente de la comunidad judía de Dinamarca, manifestó su total repudio. Además, opinó que la medida representa “la peor amenaza desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial” para los judíos de ese país.

La tradición judía indica que se circuncida a los bebés varones en su octavo día de vida.

Por su parte, el Parlamento contempla tratar este tema durante su próxima sesión. Simon Emil Ammitzboll-Bille, un ex ministro del Interior y líder de un partido de izquierda, fue quien presentó el proyecto de ley para prohibir las circuncisiones.

“No creo que cortar a los niños pequeños deba ser legal en relación con un antiguo ritual religioso”, escribió Ammitzboll-Bille en su Facebook. “Esa es mi postura de principios. Que el cuerpo de una persona le pertenece y que los jóvenes deben decidir si quieren ser circuncidados. Por eso estoy a favor de introducir un límite de edad de 18 años para la circuncisión no médica”, agregó.

El rabino Yitzi Loewenthal, de Jabad Dinamarca, expresó en JTA que el partido gobernante, socialdemócrata, no dijo cómo votará el proyecto de ley “pero existe el riesgo de que se apruebe». «Esto es bastante grave”, agregó.

En 2018 ya habían comenzado los rumores y las posibilidades de instalar el proyecto para prohibir las circuncisiones, aunque no prosperó.

Ese mismo año, en Islandia se presentó un proyecto de ley similar pero se descartó tras una protesta internacional. Actualmente, la circuncisión es legal en toda Europa.
