Rabino principal de Viena: “Vimos a los tiradores disparando contra clientes de varios bares”

El rabino principal de la ciudad de Viena ofreció su testimonio del presunto ataque terrorista que sacudió este lunes la ciudad.

Schlomo Hofmeister aseguró en una entrevista a la cadena británica LBC haber visto al menos a dos tiradores.

No obstante, puso en duda que su objetivo haya sido atacar la sinagoga de Stadttempel como se ha presumido a lo largo de estas horas.

“Vivimos en el complejo de la gran sinagoga de Viena. Luego de escuchar los disparos abajo, volteamos hacia las ventanas y vimos a los tiradores disparando contra los clientes de varios bares… los tiradores dispararon al menos cientos de balas o más enfrente de nuestro edificio”, describió así la escena el rabino principal de Viena.

Hofmeister detalló que estos bares mantenían mesas fuera de sus instalaciones. Dijo que esta fue la última noche antes de que entrara en vigor un confinamiento por COVID-19, según informó Enlace Judío.

Un video captado por una cámara de seguridad difundido por el Canal 20 israelí, que la cadena aseguró le llegó de manera exclusiva, muestra el momento en que uno de los atacantes dispara con su arma en dos ocasiones en contra de una persona a las afueras de los bares Meinz y Kaktus, justo al otro lado de la calle de la sinagoga.

“Los titulares [de noticias] han alegado que se ha tratado de un ataque terrorista en contra de la gran sinagoga de Viena. La verdad no sé… ellos estaban atacando a los clientes de los bares. A esta hora de la noche no hay actividad en la gran sinagoga”, dijo respecto a la información que ha señalado a la sinagoga como posible objetivo del presunto atentado.

“Escuchamos los disparos… luego los policías llegaron y los escuchamos preguntar si había heridos adentro [de los bares]… la gente respondió gritando desde los bares que ‘sí, hay uno’ o ‘sí, hay dos’ o ‘sí, hay tres’”, agregó.

El rabino aseguró que desde donde encontraba, en la calle Seitensttetengasse, escuchó disparos con arma de fuego al menos alrededor de una hora.

El presidente del Ejecutivo de la Organización Sionista Mundial, Yaakov Hagoel, dijo haberse comunicado con el rabino principal de Viena, quien le señaló que las instituciones y las sinagogas estaban cerradas.

Horas antes, el presidente de la comunidad judía de Viena, Oskar Deutsch, afirmó que por el momento no se podía afirmar que la sinagoga haya sido el objetivo de los sujetos involucrados en el presunto ataque terrorista.

Deutsch confirmó que para ese momento ya no se encontraban en actividad y que estaban cerrados cuando ocurrieron los primeros disparos en la zona. Además, informó que se le pidió a todos los miembros de la comunidad que no estuvieran en la calle y se mantuvieran dentro de sus hogares.

El Jazán de la sinagoga y un miembro de Jabad en la ciudad también pusieron en duda en comentarios a la cadena israelí Canal 13 que el ataque haya tenido como objetivo la sinagoga de Stadttempel.

Hasta el momento, la Policía de Viena solo se ha limitado a confirmar que una persona murió y varios resultaron gravemente heridos, incluido un elemento suyo.

Sobre los sospechosos involucrados, las autoridades han asegurado que se trataron de varios y que portaban armas largas. Al menos uno de ellos fue abatido por la policía.

El canciller de Austria, Sebastian Kurz, ha calificado como un “ataque terrorista” a los hechos ocurridos en Viena. A su vez, señaló que algunos de los sospechosos aún se encontraban bajo persecución de las autoridades.

Por su parte, el alcalde de Viena, Michael Ludwig, aseguró que al menos 15 personas fueron hospitalizadas. Siete de de ellas con heridas graves, recogió la agencia AP.
