Un hospital de Jerusalem le otorgó a un paciente internado por coronavirus la oportunidad de participar del casamiento de su hijo. Se llevó a cabo en un sector de la institución médica, debajo de la ventana de la habitación donde el hombre se encuentra hospitalizado.

El evento tuvo lugar el domingo y fue organizado por el Centro Médico Hadassah, en Jerusalem. En el video se observa a la novia, escoltada por dos mujeres, sosteniendo velas y caminando hacia la jupá (palio nupcial) instalada en el hospital.

Mientras un jazán (persona que guía los cantos en la sinagoga) canta, la pareja, de una familia ultraortodoxa en la ciudad de Arad, en el sur de Israel, se encuentra rodeada por sus invitados, un puñado de hombres ultraortodoxos con máscaras, y por varios fotógrafos.

En las imágenes aparece, además, el padre del novio, de 56 años, mirando la boda desde la ventana de su habitación. Está internado en grave estado desde septiembre a causa del coronavirus, según indicó el hospital.

En el video se observa al padre mirando la ceremonia con una máscara de oxígeno en su rostro.  Está acostado en una cama de hospital cerca de la ventana, adornada con globos de colores.
Yad Avraham, una organización de voluntarios médicos que ayudó a organizar la boda, manifestó que el padre vestía un sombrero festivo que utilizan los judíos ultraortodoxos en ocasiones especiales. De todas maneras, estaba demasiado débil como para vestirse con el traje de boda tradicional completo.

El hospital señaló que la boda del domingo se celebró de acuerdo con todas las pautas del Ministerio de Salud.

La ceremonia pequeña y tranquila llevada a cabo en el hospital contrastó con una serie de grandes celebraciones realizadas por algunos segmentos de la comunidad ultraortodoxa de Israel, que en algunos casos han violado las directivas sanitarias.
