El avión Boeing 767-300ER, supuestamente conocido como “Ala de Zion”, ha sido descrito como el Air Force One de Israel.

El avión realizó su vuelo inaugural en noviembre de 2019 después de dos años de preparación. Según IAI, el avión puede llegar a EE. UU., China, Japón y Brasil sin escalas.

Hasta ahora, el gobierno ha aprobado 206 millones de dólares para la compra y remodelación del avión. Anteriormente, había servido durante casi 20 años como avión de pasajeros para la aerolínea australiana Qantas.

El proyecto ha causado controversia, y los críticos del primer ministro Benjamín Netanyahu lo denunciaron como innecesario y excesivamente costoso.

En las próximas elecciones del 23 de marzo, se podrá decidir si Netanyahu alguna vez podrá usar el avión, ya que el primer ministro buscará permanecer en el cargo.
