Según un informe del diario saudita Al Watan, el régimen de Bashar Al Assad estuvo transfiriendo cohetes y equipamiento militar al movimiento terrorista libanés en medio de los ataques con misiles por parte de los grupos armados que controlan la Franja de Gaza a territorio israelí.
El reporte del medio indica que el gobierno sirio «aprovechó» las hostilidades entre los terroristas de Gaza y las respuestas del Ejército de Israel para hacerle llegar armamento (en forma ilegal) a sus aliados de Hezbollah.
El periódico aseguró que el equipamiento y los suministros que Siria transfirió al Líbano son «armas avanzadas».
Además, Al Watan afirmó que el régimen de Assad ocultó un ataque de la Fuerza Aérea de Israel contra objetivos sirios, se se habría cobrado la vida de 17 personas.
