Funcionarios de la organización terrorista declararon posteriormente a la prensa internacional que su liberación probablemente tardaría más de las 72 horas previstas en la propuesta estadounidense.
El líder de Hamás, Musa Abu Marzouk, dijo a Al Jazeera que llevaría más de 72 horas liberar a los rehenes vivos y los cuerpos de los muertos, afirmando que ese plazo no era realista en las circunstancias actuales.
El comunicado de la organización terrorista decía que liberaría a todos los rehenes, vivos y muertos, “de acuerdo con la fórmula de intercambio descrita en la propuesta del presidente Trump, siempre que se aseguren las condiciones de campo necesarias para el intercambio”.
Hamás dio a los mediadores su respuesta al plan de Trump para poner fin a la guerra de Gaza el viernes por la noche y aseguró que aprobaría la transferencia del poder de la Franja de Gaza a un órgano de gobierno palestino que sería elegido “con base en el consenso nacional palestino y con apoyo árabe e islámico”.
Marzouk prometió que la entrega del poder vendría acompañada de la transferencia de armas de Hamás a los futuros gobernantes palestinos.

Hamás afirmó que estos temas se discutirán en un “marco nacional palestino unificado en el que Hamás participará y contribuirá responsablemente”.
La aceptación se produjo horas después de que Trump lanzara un ultimátum al grupo terrorista, insistiendo en que Hamás tenía hasta el domingo para aceptar el acuerdo o enfrentarse a “un infierno como nadie ha visto antes”.
