Corea del Norte lanzó un misil de largo alcance desde una plataforma en el noroeste del país, informó hoy la agencia de noticias Yonhap, en base a fuentes militares sudcoreanas.
Estados Unidos y Corea del Sur habían acusado previamente al Gobierno de Pyongyang de querer probar un misil militar de largo alcance con el pretexto del lanzamiento de un satélite.
El Ministerio de Defensa de Corea del Sur había informado que el lanzamiento del misil podía ocurrir en cualquier momento entre el domingo y el 14 de febrero.
Días atrás, Corea del Norte había informado que tenía previsto lanzar este mes un cohete con un satélite, tras realizar un controvertido ensayo nuclear en enero pasado. El Gobierno norcoreano informó al respecto a tres organizaciones de Naciones Unidas sobre sus planes de lanzamiento: la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI), la Unión Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT) y la Organización de Aviación Civil Internacional (OACI).
Estados Unidos afirmó que el lanzamiento previsto sería una provocación y aclaró que sigue trabajando con la comunidad internacional para sopesar acciones tras el test nuclear norcoreano de enero.
Varias resoluciones del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU prohíben el lanzamiento de misiles balísticos.
