Israel y Turquía se reúnen en Suiza para reparar las relaciones

Los equipos negociadores de Turquía e Israel se reúnen en Suiza, en el marco de los actuales esfuerzos para lograr una distensión entre ambos países que alguna vez fueron aliados cercanos.

Israel está representado en las conversaciones, que tienen lugar en Ginebra, por Joseph Ciechanover, ex director del Ministerio de Exteriores, designado para esa tarea por el primer ministro, Biniamín Netanyahu. Ciechanover también representó a Israel durante la investigación de la ONU del abordaje del Ejército de Defensa de Israel (Tzáhal) a la flotilla de Gaza, en 2010, que resultó con la muerte de diez ciudadanos turcos y exacerbó el congelamiento de las relaciones entre ambos países.

Según altos funcionarios israelíes, la mayoría de los puntos de la agenda han sido resueltos; pero permanecen dos obstáculos principales: Turquía exige que Israel levante el bloqueo militar a la Franja de Gaza -erigido para evitar el ingreso de armas destinadas al grupo terrorista islámico Hamás-, en tanto que Jerusalén reclama que el gobierno turco ponga fin a la presencia de Hamás en su capital.
