El presidente de Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, realizó una visita oficial a Israel con el objetivo de ampliar los ámbitos de cooperación entre los dos países y emprender nuevos proyectos conjuntos. En su visita, Morales se reunió con el Presidente Rivlin y el Primer Ministro Netanyahu. Ambos recordaron la ayuda de Guatemala en el nacimiento del Estado judío.
“El Estado de Israel está agradecido con su país. Nunca olvidaré a Jorge García Granados, vuestro embajador ante Naciones Unidas, que ayudó a reunir los votos para el establecimiento del Estado judío», le dijo el Presidente Rivlin a Morales.
