Claudio Avruj, Subsecretario de Derechos Humanos y Pluralismo Cultural de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, tuvo un emotivo encuentro con el Papa Francisco en el Vaticano. En este texto cuenta en primera persona la inolvidable experiencia que vivió.
“El pasado 16 de enero tuve la suerte de estar en una audiencia privada con el Papa Francisco, en Santa Marta, su lugar de residencia en la ciudad del Vaticano, acompañando la delegación de dirigentes de Instituciones Judías y Rabinos que fueron a expresar su alegría por su designación como “Sumo Pontífice” y fundamentalmente a hacer público el aporte que él hace a la sociedad mundial, cimentando y alentando el diálogo ecuménico y la condena permanente a: la discriminación; la exclusión; la división; al prejuicio y al antisemitismo.
Tuve la suerte de mantener algunos encuentros con Francisco, en su cargo de Arzobispo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, cuando fui director de la DAIA en los cuales ya había quedado sorprendido de su calidez, su sencillez, y sobre todo de la proximidad con la cual establece las relaciones personales.
Hacía varios años que no nos encontrábamos. Mi sorpresa fue mayúscula cuando al ingresar en el salón, donde la delegación lo esperaba, estando yo tercero en la línea, al verme con su sonrisa característica y mirándome a los ojos, me dice de manera cálida y bien “porteñamente”: “… qué hacés acá, Claudio…”, frente a lo que solo pude reírme y balbucear algunas palabras porque no podía salir de mi asombro sobre su memoria, y esa forma impensada de romper el protocolo. No hay nada mejor que a uno que lo reconozcan y lo llamen por su nombre; más aún, si es el Papa.
El segundo momento que quedara para siempre en mi memoria como la mejor anécdota que me toco vivir, en mis encuentros con personalidades, fue cuando al momento del saludo de rigor, y luego de palabras introductorias de agradecimiento de la delegación; el Papa Francisco responde: “…El agradecido soy yo, por que es muy lindo y muy bueno poder recibir a compatriotas y amigos muy queridos de la Comunidad Judía; buenos amigos como Claudio, con quien nos une el habernos criado en la misma manzana en Flores y haber jugado al futbol en la misma plaza con unos años de diferencia…”.
Imaginará, quien lea esto, la emoción y la sorpresa. Lo que él hizo público en ese momento, surgió en una conversación informal hace exactamente 14 años, en un ascensor durante su ingreso al edificio de la AMIA-DAIA (siendo el primer arzobispo en la historia que lo hacía). En el trayecto de esos 7 pisos, Francisco, me preguntó de qué barrio era y ahí se registro el diálogo que motiva esta anécdota.
Es imposible describir con palabras la emoción que significo participar de ese encuentro y sin ningún tipo de vanagloria; es muy regocijante haber sido en aquella reunión, por unos instantes, recordado y reconocido por el Papa. Un regalo maravilloso que me dio la vida.
Futbolero de ley, desde sus tiempos de Flores, cuando lo visité en el Vaticano le dije en broma: “Usted sí que hace milagros…” Me respondió sorprendido: “¿Por qué?” Serio, muy serio, lo chicaneé: “Mire si hará milagros que sacó campeón a San Lorenzo… Con esos jugadores, el mayor mérito es suyo”. Y se rió de lo lindo…
Más allá de la broma y del carisma que transmite, siento una gran admiración por Francisco. Lo veo simple, sencillo, y a la vez grandioso. Una mezcla que en el fondo me genera enorme admiración.
