Una de las costumbres más difundidas es la comer lácteos, acompañados por las siete especias características de Israel. Las sinagogas se adornan con flores, plantas y frutos, en recuerdo de la entrega de la Torá en el Monte Sinai, porque estaba rodeado de vegetación.
