«Los Sobrevivientes» de Estela Parodi (Análisis del Lic. Eduardo Chernizki)

A 20 AÑOS DEL ATENTADO A LA AMIA

Durante el acto que la AMIA efectuó durante la última edición Feria del Libro de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, en el cual presentó varios libros editados por Editorial Mila, incluyó una novela que llamaba la atención por dos motivos, uno era su título “Los Sobrevivientes”, y otro por quien era su autora, una escritora y periodista rosarina que no es miembro de la comunidad, Estela Parodi, que contaba en su haber una importante serie de premios obtenidos por los tres libros de cuentos que tenía publicados.

Pero cuando, durante el acto, la responsable del Departamento de Cultura de la AMIA, se refirió al libro y a la autora, lo llamativo se convirtió en sorpresa para la gran mayoría de quienes estábamos presentes, pues el texto tenía como uno de sus puntos basales el atentado que el 18 de julio de 1994 destruyó el edificio de la AMIA causando 85 víctimas fatales, judíos y no judíos, que enlutaron a decenas de familias; más de 300 heridos en la misma situación; e incalculables daños materiales.

“Los Sobrevivientes” es una excelente novela que une dos tragedias, la del atentado a la AMIA con lo ocurrido en la Argentina en los tristes años de la década del ’70.

Cada uno de los protagonistas es un “sobreviviente” de cada una de ellas: Esteban directamente de la primera, pues tuvo que irse del país mientras algunos de sus compañeros y amigos desaparecían; Alma era “hermana” de una de las víctimas fatales del atentado, y sufrió las consecuencias que el mismo produjo en el seno familiar.

Un detalle no menor es que ni los protagonistas, ni el resto de los personajes que integran la trama, son judíos, si bien el nombre de la “hermana” asesinada el 18 de julio de 1994 es Magalí, quien fue traída a su familia cuando Alma tenía 10 años.

Otro hecho digno de mencionar es que a lo largo de las más de doscientas páginas de la novela, conformada por capítulos cortos pero “contundentes” al decir de Myrtha Schalom, no se plantea el reclamo de justicia, aunque permanentemente se percibe que el atentado sigue impune.

En el Prologo, la autora, además de explicar que ambientó la novela en el año en que la escribió, el 2008, se refiere al 18 de julio de 1994 diciendo “Nunca olvidare aquel día, porque por esas cuestiones que los escritores ignoramos afectó profundamente mi interior. No podía bajo ningún punto de vista dejar de mirar esas escenas espantosas que el televisor mostraba y que, sin lugar a dudas, en algún espacio de mi mente, quedarían archivadas de manera definitiva”, y al referirse a su creación en el acto de la Feria del Libro expresó “un escritor no elige lo que va a escribir sino, como dijo Cortázar, el tema lo elige a él y así ocurrió”.

“Los Sobrevivientes” es la prueba de que Estela Parodi no pudo olvidar lo que vio, y también que en su caso lo dicho por Julio Cortázar, no sólo “ocurrió” sino que lo desarrolló de una manera ágil, que permite al lector introducirse no sólo en la problemática planteada sino en el mismo ritmo en que la autora va planteándola.

Mientras Esteban regresa al país, y a su Rosario natal, luego de tres décadas buscando a Irina, su pareja cuando debió salir en forma inesperada de la Argentina para no ser “el próximo desaparecido”; y debe aceptar el dolor de su padre por haber demorado tanto en volver y la incomprensión de su hermano por no reintegrarse al grupo familiar.

Por su parte Alba lucha cotidianamente para sobreponerse a las obligaciones que debió asumir luego del atentado a la AMIA, cuidando a su madre, a la vez que cumple con sus obligaciones de periodista destacada de una publicación periódica mientras se sigue preguntando por qué Magalí y no ella fue una de las víctimas del atentado, interrogante con el que comienza “Los sobrevivientes” y que, como es lógico, no tiene respuesta.

Estela Parodi va exponiendo, en los primeros capítulos, las historias personales de los protagonistas en forma separada, describiéndolos a la luz del presente, el año 2008, para luego unirlos en una relación efímera pero profunda, que los lleva a separarse pues cada uno encuentra lo que buscaba, si bien no de la forma esperada o deseada.

Nos atrevemos afirmar que los lectores de esta novela estarán de acuerdo con las palabras con que Myrtha Shalom la describe en el corto texto que se publica en la contratapa “”Los sobrevivientes es una novela que conmueve y nos ayuda a reparar los huecos de la desmemoria individual y colectiva. Su lectura actúa como contraseña para levantar compuertas que el olvido encadena”.

Consideramos que el hecho de que ninguno de los personajes de “Los Sobrevivientes” sea judío resulta un acierto, quizás no planificado por su autora, pues pone de manifiesto algo que muchos no desean aceptar, que el atentado a la AMIA fue un ataque a toda la sociedad argentina. También juzgamos acertada la decisión de los responsables de Editorial Milá que decidieron publicarla.

Ante la inminencia del vigésimo aniversario del atentado a la AMIA tenemos que reconocer que esta novela no es un alegato solicitando que se lo esclarezca, pero sí afirmar que es un homenaje a las familias de las víctimas, pues describe rigurosamente el dolor de la pérdida que ellos han sufrido y las dificultades que tuvieron, y tienen, para continuar viviendo.
