El hecho sucedió en Potomac, Maryland, cuando Benny Fischer dueño de «Benny and Grill», decidió poner banderas de Estados Unidos e Israel en el frente de su local.
Tras esa decisión, Fischer aseguró que fue despertado a las 3 de la mañana por una llamada anónima a su casa en la que le dijeron: «Vamos a tomar la bandera para follarte judío. Los judíos son escoria… Vamos a matar a todos los judíos incluyéndote a vos».
El dueño del local afirmó que tras esas expresiones antisemitas quien lo llamó comenzó a despotricar contra Israel y los judíos, inmediatamente Fischer cortó el teléfono.
Más tarde volvió a recibir otra llamada amenazante y decidió hacer la denuncia en la policía del Condado de Montgomery.
