Hoshaná Rabá

Hoshana Rabá (gran Hoshana – salvación) es la denominación del último día de la festividad de Sucot, que se inicia este año con la puesta del sol del 14 de octubre y continúa hasta el mismo momento del día 15. Es costumbre que durante la noche se estudien textos de la TaNaJ (Biblia) y delTalmud hasta la salida del sol.

A continuación se reproduce un articulo explicativo de Hoshaná Rabá publicado en la página web de Keter de Israel.

Di-s le dijo a Abraham: “Si no son expiadas las trasgresiones de tus hijos en Rosh Hashaná, lo serán en Iom Kipur, y sino lo serán en Hoshaná Rabá”.
¿Y por qué aseguró esto Hashem a Abraham?
Porque la luz de Abraham Avinu empezó a iluminar el mundo después de 21 generaciones (desde la Creación), lo mismo pasa con sus hijos, su luz no será ocultada más de 21 días, un día luego del juicio de Rosh Hashaná hasta Hoshaná Rabá.
Final del veredicto
Hoshaná Raba es uno de los días más importantes y sublimes del año. En este día se produce el el fin del sellado del veredicto de cada persona para el próximo año.
En el día de Hoshaná Rabá Hashem termina de firmar nuestro juicio, aquel que comenzó en Rosh Hashaná. Al comenzar el juicio, en Rosh Hashaná y Iom Kipur, todas las criaturas del mundo pasan como hijos elevados y son observados cada uno en forma individual; en Jag Hasucot es juzgado el mundo en las aguas en general, sobre los frutos y cosechas y el día séptimo de la festividad, es Hoshaná Rabá, el día en que se confirma el veredicto. Por cuanto que la vida del hombre depende del agua y en Hoshaná Rabá se juzga sobre ellas, es así que este día se parece en cierto modo a Iom Kipur, aumentamos en Tefilot y Teshuvá, así como lo hacemos en Iom Kipur.
En el día de Hoshaná Rabá nos mostramos delante de Di-s como carentes de méritos, pidiendo por nuestra vida y por todo el mundo, solo por el merito de la Tefilá, con un corazón sincero. Las aravot (sauces de río) que tomamos en este día representan a la boca y los labios, como símbolo de aquellas personas que no tienen ni buenas acciones, ni Torá; así nos postulamos nosotros en este día como la arava, sin méritos sino exclusivamente con nuestra boca para rezar.
En Rosh Hashaná las criaturas del mundo pasan delante de Hashem, los justos son escritos y sellados en el libro de la vida. Los beinonim (aquellos cuyas buenas y malas acciones son equivalentes) esperan hasta Iom kipur donde son sellados y esto concluye en Hoshaná Rabá y continua hasta la salida del sol de Shemini Hatzeret.
El octavo día de la festividad es llamado Shemini Hatzeret, porque nos paramos frente a Di-s y le decimos: “Nos es difícil separarnos de tus mitzvot”. Aunque hayamos terminado con el precepto de la Suca y del Lulav y los pedidos por lluvias a medida y tiempo, estamos contentos de tenerte con nosotros. Con esto demostramos nuestro amor hacia Hashem.
Hoshanot
Luego del recitado de Halel (alabanzas a Di-s) o luego de la Tefila de Musaf, en los días de la fiesta de Sucot, sacamos el Sefer Torá del Aron Hakodesh (Arca sagrada) y lo traemos a la bima del bet Hakneset(lugar de la lectura de la Torá en las sinagogas), mientras el jazan (cantor litúrgico)  y toda la congregación dicen en voz alta: “Hoshana”(Salvanos) cuatro veces (por Vos Nuestro Di-s, nuestro Creador, nuestro Salvador, El que busca nuestro bien) y luego se dicen los párrafos correspondientes al día y todo el pueblo rodea la bima sosteniendo en sus manos los arbat haminin (las cuatro especies), durante los seis primeros días de Sucot dando una sola vuelta alrededor de la bima, en el séptimo día, siete vueltas.
Esta costumbre es una recordación del Beit Hamikdash que en los siete días de la fiesta los cohanim rodeaban el Mizbeaj (altar) con alabanzas y alegría una vez cada día, y siete veces en Hoshaná Rabá (séptimo día del Jag) denominado “El séptimo día de la aravá» o «El día de la aravá», pues en él eran depositadas muchas aravot (ramas de sauce) en el altar.
En Ierushalaim había un lugar llamado Motzá. Allí se dirigían y juntaban las aravot y las colocaban erguidas sobre el altar. También se tocaba el Shofar. Todos los días rodeaban el altar una vez y luego decían: “Ana Hashem Oshia na, Ana Hashem Hatzlija na” (Por favor, Hashem Salvanos; por favor Hashem ayudanos). En el día de Oshaná Rabá rodeaban el altar 7 veces y albaban a Hashem. Luego guardaban las Aravot en vasijas de oro para que no se arruinaran.
¿Por qué justamente se bendecía sobre la Aravá en Hoshaná Raba?
Por cuanto que la Aravá crece en el agua, y esté día se juzga sobre las aguas (cuanta lluvia caerá). Para recordar las Hakafot (vueltas alrededor de la Torá) que se hacían en el Beit Hamikdash en este Jag, nosotros rodeamos el Sefer Torá en el Beit Hakneset; mostrando que no nos resta sino la Torá y ella es para nosotros como el Altar que expiaba nuestras trasgresiones.
¿Por qué rodeamos 7 veces la Bima en Hoshana Rabá y no en los otros días de Sucot?
La respuesta a esta pregunta trae una comprensión sobre la propuesta primordial de Jag Hasucot.
El libro Ta’amei HaMinhagim U’Mekorei HaDinim afirma que las 7 vueltas son paralelas a las 7 veces que Yehoshua y su ejército rodearon la ciudad de Ierijó (Jericó) antes de conquistarla.
La conexión es a través de la raíz hebrea. La palabra VaEsoveva ( y yo rodearé), solo aparece en 2 veces en el Tanaj. En Shir HaShirim (3:2), dice «Akuma Na Va’asoveva Et Ha’ir / Yo me levantaré y rodearé la ciudad” lo cual para el autor de Sefer Ta’amei HaMinhagim U’Mekorei HaDinim, se refiere a Ierijó. El Tehillim (26:6) dice, «Va’esoveva et mizbejeja, Hashem. Yo rodearé tu altar, Hashem,” lo que conecta el hecho de dar vueltas al Mizbeaj con como rodearon a Ierijó; el Mizbeaj era rodeado 7 veces en Hoshaná Raba así como Ierijó era rodeada 7 veces para ser conquistado.
El gran Rabino de Rupshitz esclarece la conexión entre Ierijó y Hoshaná Raba en relación con el Mizbeaj (altar) por medio de traer la costumbre de tocar el Shofar siete veces durante las Hakafot en Hoshaná Rabá. Ellos dicen que la fuente esto era también de Ierijó. En Ierijó, la gente rodeaba la ciudad una vez por 6 días, y en el séptimo día, ellos la rodeaban siete veces, mientras que los cohanim (sacerdotes)tocaban shofarot y llevaban el Aron (Arca sagrada) alrededor. El shofar, aparentemente milagroso, hacia que la muralla de la ciudad cayera. En Hoshaná Raba, debemos tocar el Shofar y hacer siete hakafot para lograr “que la pared de hierro entre nosotros y Hashem se derribe”.
Esto, de hecho, es la propuesta de Hoshaná Raba y Sucot en general: romper la barrera entre Hashem y nosotros. El comienzo del pasuk (versículo) en Tehilim (libro de Salmos) es “Erchatz B’Nikayon Kapi”. Hoshaná Raba es el último día para la mitzvá de los arbat haminim (4 especies) y es llamado Hoshaná Rabá por cuanto que aumentamos en Tefilot de Hoshaná en este día más que en el resto de los días del Jag.
A pesar de que la Torá no separa este día del resto de los días del Jag, tomaron los iehudim en todas las generaciones costumbres especiales para este día. Se visten ropas festivas y se acostumbra quedarse despiertos toda la noche estudiando Torá y aumentando en rezos. De esta forma, mostramos nuestro deseo de permanecer cercarnos a Di-s y añorar que el pose entre nosotros.
