Rumania: Cumplió 101 años la sobreviviente del Holocausto más longeva

Klara Markus, sobreviviente del campo de concentración de Auschiwitz, el pasado 31 de diciembre cumplió 101 años siendo la sobreviviente más longeva.

Markus nació en Schongut en Carei, Rumania, en agosto de 1942, fue deportada al guetto de Budapest, donde comenzó a trabajar en una fábrica de paraguas,pero su madre y sus hermanas mayores fueron llevadas directamente a Auschwitz.  Dos años más tarde fue deportada al varios campos de concentración hasta que finalmente cuando fue llevada a Auschwitz en 1945. Allí fue enviada a las cámaras de gas: «Para cuando nos pusieron adentro y fueron abrir las cámaras de gas, se encontraron con que se había acabado; uno de los guardias nos dijo en broma que era nuestro día de suerte por que habían asesinado a tantos que ya no tenían gas para nosotras», relató Markus para la prensa rumana.

Finalmente la guerra concluyó y cuando regresó a Rumania la sobreviviente más longeva se enteró de la terrible noticia que su madre y sus hermanos perdieron la vida, y pese a ese dolor pudo reconstruir su vida ya que conoció a al doctor Andrei Markus, con quien tuvo dos hijos.
