Hay una enorme diferencia entre ser un buen diplomático y ser un populista que devora titulares. También hay diferencia entre conseguir estabilidad y venderse al diablo. Es cierto que los estados no tienen amigos, sino intereses, y que estos nunca se mueven por valores éticos.
Ahí están las amistades con países del petrodólar que vulneran todos los derechos fundamentales, esclavitud de la mujer incluida. Pero aún aplicando el rasero de la realpolitik, siempre hay límites más perversos que otros. Y cuando se cruzan, el mensaje que se envía al mundo es claro: no importa nada. Si en aras del rédito político no se tienen en cuenta las atrocidades, y más cuando los pactos se plantean desde la óptica de un pretendido progresismo, entonces ¿qué nos queda?
Todo ello a cuento del acuerdo con Irán. De lo que sabemos hasta el momento, sabemos que el diablo está en los detalles. O en la falta de ellos. Es evidente que poner en el mercado el 50% del petróleo que Irán tiene varado por culpa de las sanciones -sus reservas lo sitúan el cuarto en la escala mundial- es una alegría para la economía. Y también es un hecho que Rusia tiene avanzado su acuerdo de petróleo por misiles: 500.000 barriles diarios. Pero aquí no se acaba el tema, sobre todo si se abre el capítulo nuclear. Como decía Henry Kissinger en The Wall Street Journal, “Irán ha ido paulatinamente llevando las negociaciones a su terreno”, y lo que ahora está sobre el papel es, desde la perspectiva del control de su potencial nuclear, papel mojado. No olvidemos que Irán ha pasado de tener cien centrifugadoras a veinte mil, ha burlado los verificadores internacionales y está demostrando que la capacidad internacional para controlar sobre el terreno es muy escasa. Y en estas, el acuerdo es muy ambiguo en relación con el tiempo que Irán puede tardar en desarrollar armamento nuclear, lo cual desestabiliza toda la región, especialmente ahora que, además de su papel en la guerra de Siria, ha desembarcado en el campo de batalla yemenita, hostigando a su eterno enemigo saudita. Imaginar que, después del acuerdo, habrá más estabilidad en la zona es no saber nada de la región. O vender humo.
Y luego está lo del inicio, el tema de los derechos y los valores. Lo peor de este acuerdo es que a Irán no se le ha pedido nada, y este nada es muy todo. Ni se le ha pedido que renuncia a destruir a Israel, ni que deje de financiar terrorismo, ni lapidar a mujeres, ni perseguir a homosexuales y a disidentes y a directores de cine, etcétera. Irán puede continuar pisoteando derechos básicos sin que el mundo se inmute, porque nos interesan más sus barriles que sus maldades. No triunfa la paz, ni los derechos, ni la estabilidad. Triunfa el arribismo político, el negocio petrolero y los intereses de los ayatolás. Por eso lo de Obama encantado de haberse conocido con este pacto es una mueca de carne desgarrada.
