El primer ministro de Israel, Biniamín Netanyahu, y su homólogo etíope, Hailemariam Desalegn, acordaron impulsar sus relaciones bilaterales con la firma de varios acuerdos en ámbitos como la agricultura, tecnología, turismo o terrorismo.
Durante su visita oficial a Etiopía, enmarcada en su gira africana, Netanyahu se reunió con el primer ministro etíope para abordar diferentes oportunidades de negocio que permitan mejorar la cooperación entre ambos países.
«Se trata de un plan de cooperación concreto en las áreas que son importantes para nuestros dos pueblos», anunció el mandatario israelí.
Entre estos acuerdos, explicó, figura un plan para digitalizar ámbitos como la educación y la sanidad en Etiopía con el objetivo de «desarrollar el país y su sociedad».
Tras reunirse con su homólogo, Netanyahu se dirigió al Parlamento etíope, donde insistió en la necesidad de reforzar sus lazos en materia de terrorismo.
«Vamos a cooperar con Etiopía en la lucha contra el terrorismo, y estoy seguro de que juntos vamos a derrotar el terrorismo global», afirmó el mandatario, que reconoció estar «muy orgulloso» de ser el primer jefe de Gobierno israelí en visitar Etiopía.
Con este viaje, Netanyahu finaliza su gira africana tras visitar Uganda, Kenia y Ruanda, donde ha buscado nuevos aliados para relanzar el comercio en África.
«Israel va a volver a África y África va a volver a Israel», concluyó el primer ministro.
