La mayoría de los británicos rechazaría la salida del Reino Unido de la Unión Europea si el Gobierno convocase ahora otro referéndum sobre el Brexit, según reveló este domingo una encuesta.
El estudio, elaborado por la firma Survation entre 1.017 personas entre los pasados días 28 y 30 de junio, revela que el 54 % de los votantes diría «no» al Brexit si se les preguntase ahora, frente al 46 % que todavía lo apoya.
Asimismo, el 55 % de los encuestados apuesta por el establecimiento de una coalición multipartita que negocie con Bruselas los términos del Brexit.
Por contra, el 32 % prefiere que las conversaciones las conduzca en solitario el Gobierno de la primera ministra, la conservadora Theresa May, en minoría desde las elecciones generales del pasado 8 de junio.
A pesar del revés sufrido por la primera ministra en esos comicios, el 51 % todavía considera que la líder tory es la persona idónea para negociar con Bruselas, frente al 35 % que opta por el líder del Partido Laborista y de la oposición, Jeremy Corbyn.
La encuesta también señala que el 36 % cree que el Gobierno de Londres debe suspender inmediatamente las conversaciones sobre el Brexit y centrarse en trabajar con la UE para permanecer en el club comunitario.
En un escenario de ruptura definitiva con Bruselas, solo el 24 % respalda el objetivo del Ejecutivo de abandonar el mercado único y la unión aduanera para firmar pactos de libre comercio con otros países.
Y sea cual sea el acuerdo final entre el Reino Unido y la Unión Europea, el 47 % de los encuestados no desea someterlo a otro referéndum, mientras que el 46 % sí querría otra consulta para pronunciarse sobre los términos del Brexit.
En todo el Reino Unido, el 51,9 % respaldó la salida del país del bloque comunitario, frente a un 48,11 % que votó a favor de la permanencia en el plebiscito celebrado el 23 de junio de 2016. El electorado de Irlanda del Norte y de Escocia rechazó el Brexit con un 55,8 % y un 62 % de los votos, respectivamente, frente al 53,4 % y el 52,5 % del apoyo logrado en Inglaterra y Gales.
