Uriel Herman, un joven pianista israelí de 29 años con un futuro prometedor, se presentó por primera vez en nuestro país, en la Sala Argentina del Centro Cultural Kirchner co-organizado por el área de Cultura de la Embajada de Israel.
Sus canciones tienen una base clásica, pero con variaciones musicales como el rock, el jazz, y el folk dentro de la misma composición.
Luego del concierto, Herman mantuvo un diálogo en exclusiva con VIS A VIS y se refirió a por qué decidió encarar la carrera de músico y compositor. Además se refirió a qué cosas lo inspiran para componer sus líricas.
El joven pianista israelí de 29 años cursó sus estudios en la Academia de Música de Jerusalén. También estudió composición con la profesora húngara Andre Hajdu y con el Prof. Michael Wolpe. Además, estudió piano con la renombrada internacionalmente, Ilana Vered y con el Prof. Assaf Zohar.
– ¿Por qué decidiste ser músico?
– Tengo una muy buena historia con respecto a tu pregunta. Yo no creo que sea una carrera que uno elija sino que te elije. Cuando era adolescente estudié en una muy buena escuela de música con un famoso compositor británico. El nos dijo: «Si tienen la oportunidad de no ser músicos, no lo sean: no hay dinero y nunca vas a ser feliz del todo. Pero si pese a todo quieres serlo, hazlo porque no lo eliges, la música te elige a vos y después no puedes hacer otra cosa diferente». Durante muchos años intenté buscar hacer algo diferente, pero nunca pude, inclusive habiendo tomado un camino diferente al de ser músico, llegué a la conclusión, de que es lo único que puedo hacer. 
– ¿Tienes en tu familia algún músico?
– Sí, mi tía es una de las pianistas más reconocidas en Israel en el género de música clásica, Ilana Vered. Una de mis hermanas toca la flauta. Todos en mi familia tocan instrumentos, pero yo fui el único que lo encaró como una carrera.
– ¿Por qué decidiste combinar la música clásica con otros géneros musicales?
– La música para mí es el lenguaje del cual tenés tres aspectos importantes: leer partituras, componer y la tercera está relacionada con hablar: improvisar y ser espontáneo. En la música clásica siempre busco la forma en la que puedo ser libre e improvisar. Cuando compongo lo hago en formato clásico, pero luego tomo la música que me gusta y no hago mucha matemática con respecto al resultado final. Puedo tomar una canción de David Bowie o Nirvana y le doy mi toque especial.
– ¿Cuál es la inspiración que usas para componer tus propia música?
– La vida…. componer es como hablar, es decirle a las personas hacía d´pnde vas. Para mí es mi terapia. Como todas las personas tuve buenas experiencias y malas experiencias, pero la forma de proyectarlas es componiendo y escribiendo.
