La 15ª edición del Festival Internacional de Cine Judío en la Argentina (FICJA) se llevará a cabo del 8 al 14 de noviembre en el Cinemark Palermo en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.
Se presentarán once títulos de estreno absoluto para el país; entre ellos, Zuzana. La música es vida, cuyas dos proyecciones contarán con la presencia de sus realizadores, Harriet Gordon Getzels y Peter Getzels, procedentes de los Estados Unidos, quienes presentarán el filme y dialogarán con el público al término de las mismas.
Se trata de la apasionante historia de Zuzana Ruzickova, quien tras haber sobrevivido a tres campos de concentración nazis llegó a convertirse, durante el régimen comunista en Checoslovaquia, en la más famosa intérprete mundial del clavicordio, sobre todo de la obra de Johann Bach, y en la primera en grabar las famosas Variaciones Goldberg.
Como todos los años, habrá documentales, dramas y comedias de Israel y el resto del mundo, con el agregado de que el Festival coincidirá con el 80º aniversario del pogrom nazi cínicamente conocido como “Kristallnacht” o “La Noche de los Cristales Rotos”.
Los Estados Unidos serán el país que más aportes realice en esta oportunidad, con más de media docena de producciones propias o compartidas.
Las primeras son Epifanía, que narra con frecuentes pinceladas de humor la situación de alguien que a los 35 años, casado y con dos hijos, aún intenta hacer de su carrera actoral el sostén del hogar; Marshall y Friedman, un abogado negro y otro judío enfrentan a un juez racista y antisemita en un filme basado en un caso real, y el doble programa que integran los cortometrajes Hotel Everest, una realización contemporánea y vivencial sobre cómo superar el conflicto israelo-palestino, y Meidele y el prisionero, sobre dos seres completamente diferentes, aunque con un pasado que los enlaza en la devastación.
También habrá coproducciones con Gran Bretaña (La excepción, una intrigante historia sobre un oficial alemán que debe proteger al káiser y descubrir a un espía de la resistencia holandesa infiltrado en su residencia), República Checa (Zuzana…) y ambas (La casa de la esperanza, el relato real sobre el zoológico de Varsovia que devino refugio de judíos perseguidos), pero también con China: Indignación, un filme maduro y profundo que hace honor a la novela homónima del recientemente fallecido Philip Roth.
Por supuesto que Israel estará presente, de la mano de dos destacadas comedias: El balcón de las mujeres, que se rebelan tras un accidente en un bar mitzvá en una sinagoga ortodoxa de Jerusalem, y El número, uno de los filmes más atrapantes y entretenidos de los últimos años.
Dinamarca estará representada con Del otro lado del mar, la vibrante historia del escape de una familia judía de los nazis, mientras que Holanda, Bélgica y Luxemburgo se unieron en Secretos de guerra, un relato cautivante sobre dos amigos cuyas familias eligen bandos diferentes durante la Shoá y una niña recién llegada desde la ciudad con un secreto.
