Durante una sesión del Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU centrada únicamente en condenar a Israel, la vicepresidente del Consejo de Derechos Humanos, Nazhat Khan, quien dirigía el debate, censuró a Hillel Neuer de UN Watch por intentar leer en voz alta los nombres de los países que habían participado.
UN Watch es una organización no gubernamental con sede en Ginebra cuya misión declarada es «supervisar el desempeño de las Naciones Unidas mediante el criterio de su propia Carta
“Acabo de ser censurado por el Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU, porque temen las verdades que podemos contar”, expresó Neuer.
El siguiente es el relato del propio Neuer.
“Esto es lo que sucedió: Durante un debate del CDH sobre Israel, tomé la palabra luego de que representantes de Irán, Siria, Pakistán y otros regímenes despóticos se alinearon para condenar al Estado judío por ‘crímenes de lesa humanidad’.
“En lugar de responder a cada una de sus afirmaciones, opté por un enfoque novedoso pero simple y dije: ‘Señora Presidenta, me gustaría mencionar a algunos de los gobiernos que hablaron hoy en esta sesión, porque creo que eso lo dice todo: Venezuela, Arabia Saudita, Cuba, Egipto, Líbano …’
“De pronto, los delegados cubanos comenzaron a golpear sus escritorios: ‘Este no es el momento de abordar situaciones en otros países’, gritaron.
“El representante palestino pidió a la vicepresidenta del CDH, Nazhat Khan, tomar “una posición clara” y no permitirme ‘desviar la discusión’.
“Dijo que ‘no debería estar presente en la sala’ y que fue ‘vergonzoso’ que yo tomara la palabra.
“En lugar de defender mi derecho a participar en el debate, Khan me interrumpió, mientras leía los mensajes de otros representantes y el audio fue cortado.
“Esta fue la peor forma de censura que he experimentado en mis 15 años en la ONU.
“Se enojan conmigo porque acabamos de organizar un mitin histórico, con 1.000 manifestantes frente al consejo, para oponernos al sesgo extremo del debate muy anti-israelí en el que intenté hablar. Los principales medios del mundo cubrieron la manifestación que contó con la participación de miembros de los parlamentos europeos, expertos en seguridad nacional, escritores y activistas.
“Mi discurso fue bruscamente interrumpido después de 20 segundos a favor de un representante de un grupo radical que acusó inmediatamente a Israel de ‘Apartheid’.
“Ante una asamblea dominada por los peores regímenes del mundo, mi equipo de UN Watch y yo no guardaremos silencio, y diremos la verdad.
“No dejaremos de denunciar la obsesión del CDH con la demonización del Estado judío.
“No dejaremos de exponer la hipocresía y los dobles estándares de un ‘Consejo de Derechos Humanos’ que tiene como miembros a Arabia Saudita, Qatar, China y Pakistán.
“Y no dejaremos de defender a las verdaderas víctimas de los derechos humanos, muchas de ellas victimizadas por los estados miembros que forman parte de este consejo.
“Los fanáticos anti-israelíes estaban felices al ser aislado de ese debate. La OLP y sus dictadores árabes quieren seguir pervirtiendo el lenguaje de los derechos humanos para atacar al Estado judío.
“El CDH está preparando una lista negra del BDS para presionar a empresas de todo el mundo a no invertir en Israel. Saben que mi equipo en UN Watch está liderando la lucha para contrarrestar este movimiento.
“A raíz de nuestra exitosa campaña para exponer el sesgo del CDH, Reino Unido y Dinamarca han apoyado a Israel en cuatro resoluciones.
“Sin embargo, debemos continuar nuestra labor en los próximos días. El tema de la agenda antiisraelí del CDH debe eliminarse para siempre. La UNESCO debe dejar de negar los derechos judíos en el Muro Occidental y otros sitios sagrados. UNRWA debe ser desechada. Se debe negar a los dictadores asientos de influencia en los organismos clave de la ONU”.
