La dramática carta de un médico israelí pidiéndole a la gente que se cuide del Covid-19

Un médico anestesiólogo de un hospital en Tel Aviv compartió un post en Facebook que se hizo viral. Allí expresa su deseo de que cada vez más personas puedan concientizarse sobre los peligros del COVID-19. No sólo para protegerse ellos mismos, sino también para proteger a sus seres queridos y al personal de salud.

“Cualquiera que nunca haya enfrentado la situación de poner en un ventilador a un hombre de 45 años con ligero sobrepeso y una dificultad para respirar ligera, para después de una semana firmar su certificado de defunción no puede entender cómo es una pandemia.”
Esas palabras son sólo un pequeño fragmento de lo que compartió el doctor Or Goren en un post en Facebook.

Goren es un anestesiólogo del Centro Médico Ichilov. Es un hospital que está ubicado en Tel Aviv. Luego de que se publicara su escrito no tardó en viralizarse ya que se compartió más de 3.000 veces.

El post destaca la preocupación de cómo todavía hay mucha gente que tiene problemas para entender la seriedad del problema que trae el COVID-19 y cómo puede afectar a cualquiera de nosotros.
«Creo que todos estamos en el mismo barco con el virus», señaló Goren a Ynet después de que la publicación en hebreo se hiciera viral.

«Quería darles voz a quienes estamos en el epicentro de toda esta situación: las enfermeras, los conserjes, el personal de la UCI y los anestesiólogos que atienden a los más gravemente enfermos. Quería mostrarle al público cómo se ve la enfermedad desde este lugar», comentó el especialista.
También quiso aclarar que debemos estar conscientes de que esta enfermedad es muy grave, ya que tiene una tasa de mortalidad más alta que la gripe. Causa estragos en las personas, incluso en los jóvenes. Es algo nuevo y grave, y la sociedad no debe hacer la vista gorda ante la situación.

«Un niño de tercer grado que debe mantenerse alejado de sus amigos también está en esta lucha», señaló.
«Incluso aquellos que tienen síntomas relativamente leves pueden esperar un período prolongado de recuperación y un daño grave en su salud. Es un hecho, vemos daños pulmonares como nunca antes habíamos visto con una gripe, también en el sistema cardíaco incluso después de que desapareciera el virus del cuerpo.»
Goren dijo que a pesar de que la ciencia y los profesionales médicos tienen un gran entendimiento sobre el COVID-19 y su tratamiento, la sociedad debe permanecer alerta.
«El hombre de 45 años sobre el que escribí había entrado al hospital por sus propios medios y me dijo que estaría bien. Terminó en una máquina para el corazón y pulmón», expresó Goren.
«La ferocidad de esta enfermedad y el daño que causa es algo que no habíamos visto antes», agregó. «Hacemos lo que podemos como equipos médicos. Estamos mejorando, pero la gente debe entender que ésta no es simplemente otra gripe. Mata a la gente 10 veces más que la gripe.»
«El público no ve lo que hago y por eso escribí el post», concluyó Goren. «Si continuamos de esta manera, más y más personas verán a sus familiares y amigos en un estado terrible, y entonces lo entenderán».
