Se confirmó quién será el rabino que servirá a la comunidad judía de Emiratos Árabes Unidos

El Consejo Judío de los Emiratos anunció hoy que el rabino Dr. Elie Abadi, nativo de Beirut y miembro destacado de la comunidad judía de Nueva York, se trasladará a Dubái el próximo mes.

Abadi será el segundo rabino a tiempo completo de la comunidad judía de Dubái, en Emiratos Árabes, informó Arutz Sheva.

“Es un gran placer y honor para mí unirme y liderar el Consejo Judío de los Emiratos como rabino principal. Además de mis muchos años de experiencia como Gran Rabino en la ciudad de Nueva York, traigo conmigo todo mi corazón y una enorme emoción a esta estimada posición. Espero con ansias reunirme, enseñar y orar con todos los congregantes y miembros de la comunidad judía en general”, manifestó Abadi.

“Será un honor para mí compartir y celebrar en todos sus smajot (alegrías) y regocijarme en todas nuestras fiestas juntos. Siento que vuelvo a mis raíces; a la región donde nací, a mi lengua madre y a las hermosas tradiciones y costumbres con las que crecí. Gracias por esta maravillosa invitación. Juntos cultivaremos y sembraremos las semillas de la comunidad judía de los EAU”, añadió.

El rabino Yehuda Sarna, representante del Consejo Judío de los Emiratos en Nueva York, señaló que la comunidad judía de los Emiratos Árabes “no merece nada mejor que un verdadero hombre del renacimiento, un verdadero talmid jajam en todos los sentidos de la palabra y un constructor visionario”.

“No sólo viene con un sentido de indigenidad, siendo de la zona, sino también de internacionalismo. Su dominio del árabe, además de seis idiomas diferentes, lo posiciona como un recurso único para toda la región”, agregó.

La familia del rabino huyó del Líbano a México y fundó la sinagoga Edmund J Safra informó Enlace Judío.

El rabino Elie Abadi ha servido como vicepresidente de la Junta de Rabinos de Nueva York, co-presidente de Justicia para los Judíos de los Países Árabes y miembro de la junta de la Federación Sefaradí Americana y del Centro Mundial de Educación Sefaradí.
