La pandemia nos ha obligado a conocer y utilizar palabras y expresiones poco frecuentes hasta ahora, como la llamada inmunidad de rebaño. Es el dichoso tanto por ciento de vacunación que debe alcanzar una población para proteger al resto de sus miembros de verse contagiados.

Sorprendentemente, dicha proporción se acerca mucho al porcentaje de la conocida “proporción áurea” de la estética clásica (alrededor de un 61,8% de las medidas de una recta o plano).

Este “número de Dios” (como también es conocido) impregna también algunas medidas sociales y demográficas. Entre otras, por ejemplo, la cantidad de judíos (desde el punto de vista halájico u ortodoxo) que hoy día forman parte del Estado de Israel. Proporción que variaría fundamentalmente el carácter para el que fue creado si se anexionaran a los llamados territorios en disputa y a sus habitantes.

Por otra parte, pese al incremento de la proporción de judíos que viven en Israel respecto a la población judía mundial, si bien ya ha superado a la diáspora más numerosa, todavía no ha alcanzado el punto de inflexión. Si en el mundo somos unos 12,8 millones de judíos, la “razón dorada” se alcanzará cuando los asentados en el estado hebreo lleguen a ser unos ocho millones. Una cifra a la que se podría llegar en pocos años. ¿Supondrá algún cambio notable dicho peso demográfico en el universo judío?. ¿O traerá consigo alguna “inmunidad de kehilá” (comunidad, en hebreo)? ¿De qué fenómeno actual nos protegería?

Quien haya vivido en Israel sabe que la experiencia no se parece en nada a hacerlo en otro entorno. Aunque sea mayoritariamente correligionario, como lo era la zona del antiguo imperio zarista donde estaba permitido el asentamiento de esta “minoría mayoritaria”.

Hay quienes dicen incluso que Israel en el único lugar del mundo en el que uno puede olvidarse de “ser judío. En el que se nota una sensación aún no codificada en los genes sociales consolidados por siglos de “otrosidad”.

Aunque basta con asomarse a cualquiera de sus fronteras para encontrar desde miradas de desconfianza, al odio más visceral.

Sartre pensaba que nuestro rebaño se define únicamente por la mirada hambrienta del lobo que nos acecha, el antisemitismo, y que si alguna vez lograra erradicarse, dicha identidad se esfumaría. De momento lo que hemos visto evaporarse son otras muchas señas nacionalistas, mientras que el sesgo amenazante contra los nuestros no ha hecho más que crecer, pese a los juramentos “nuncamasistas” de cada 27 de enero y de cada firma en el libro de visitas de Yad Vashem o los campos de la muerte.

Basta una mínima chispa para que arda todo un bosque sediento, mientras que para parar el fuego del odio hay que llegar a las hoy inalcanzables proporciones áureas de la justicia y la razón.
