El Centro Médico Sheba de Tel Hashomer, en Israel, se asoció con la startup Inspira Technologies, con sede en Raanana, para probar la Tecnología de Respiración Aumentada de Inspira como tratamiento para pacientes en estado crítico con COVID-19, según anunció Inspira.
Inspira Technologies describe su solución ART como la primera tecnología del mundo que oxigena directamente la sangre. Inspira explica que la ART cubre un vacío en el tratamiento respiratorio cuando las terapias respiratorias complementarias, como las máscaras de alta presión, son insuficientes y los riesgos de la ventilación mecánica -como los comas inducidos por el médico, la intubación y la atrofia pulmonar- no están justificados.

El director de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de Cirugía Cardíaca del Sheba, el Dr. Alexander Kogan, dijo que el centro médico estaba “muy emocionado por probar esta tecnología innovadora para la dificultad respiratoria”.
Según Kogan, “con el sistema ART, es de esperar que los pacientes permanezcan plenamente conscientes durante su tratamiento. Podremos evitar el uso de ventilación mecánica hasta que sea absolutamente necesario. Además de evitar a muchos pacientes los riesgos de un coma inducido por los médicos. Además, prevemos un mayor desarrollo de nuestra novedosa tecnología de terapia de sustitución renal para estos pacientes en estado crítico con la ayuda de Inspira”.
El cofundador y director general de Inspira, Dagi Ben-Noon, dijo: “La colaboración con el Centro Médico Sheba es una gran oportunidad para probar el sistema ART en un entorno real y demostrar su facilidad de uso para el personal médico y su eficacia para tratar a los pacientes”.
La Dra. Sylvie Luria, directora de la empresa de transferencia de tecnología de Sheba, fue la encargada de facilitar el ensayo.
“Cuando conocimos la tecnología única de Inspira, vimos inmediatamente su potencial para transformar la forma de tratar a los pacientes con problemas respiratorios”, dijo Luria.
