El rabino Yoel Migdal, de Jabad, y director de ISEJ, reveló la noticia a través de su cuenta personal de Twitter.

¿Por qué la matzá mas grande del mundo? Mide 6m x 1.06m, pesa 6kg, tiene de espesor 4mm. Se usaron 7kg de harina, 2lt de agua y tiene 119.000 agujeros.

  • Un ciudadano árabe compra todos el “jametz” de Israel

Durante Pesaj, los judíos no pueden comer “jametz” -alimentos fermentados-, en sus hogares. En Israel, por supuesto, esto es así también. El Estado hace exactamente lo mismo que muchos de sus ciudadanos judíos y vende todos sus productos fermentados a un conocido no judío. No sólo se trata de la harina sino de fábricas enteras, panaderías, cocinas y almacenes. Durante los últimos 20 años, el afortunado comprador es Hussein Jaber, un árabe israelí que compra todo al Ministerio de Finanzas y a los principales rabinos por una suma enorme de dinero sólo para anular el acuerdo una semana después cuando se acaba la festividad.

  • Pesaj es el mejor momento para hacer senderismo

El feriado dura siete días y es uno de los momentos preferidos por los israelíes para viajar. Los niños no tienen clases y muchos padres no trabajan. Y además, el clima es perfecto para practicar senderismo, kayak, ciclismo y todo tipo de actividades al aire libre.

Debido a que todos planean sentarse a cenar más o menos a la misma hora, las carreteras están repletas de gente en las dos o tres horas previas a la puesta del sol. Por regla general, durante la Pascua no se pueden comer harinas. Pero para muchos judíos, particularmente de origen europeo, las restricciones no sólo se aplican al grano fermentado, sino también al arroz, las legumbres e incluso el maní. ¿La razón? Una histórica preocupación por la mezcla de harinas hechas con granos prohibidos o de alimentos de apariencia similar.

  • Matzá con chocolate, una delicia nacional

Haz como todos los israelíes y disfruta del desayuno de Pascua: una matzá (o dos) untada con chocolate. No te preocupes si no comes legumbres en Pascua, con esto te sentirás más que bien.

A pesar de que el Estado vende sus productos fermentados antes de Pesaj, esto no significa que todos los alimentos con levadura se envíen lejos y se mantengan bajo llave o en una caja de seguridad. En muchos supermercados, por ejemplo, los artículos prohibidos se cubren con envoltorios o se mantienen fueran del alcance de los clientes durante la semana en lugar de ser retirados o devueltos.   • Miles de personas se reúnen para una bendición sacerdotal en Jerusalén

No es en Israel, ni Nueva York, Miami, Londres o París. Es en Katmandú, Nepal. El montañoso país es uno de los destinos de viaje más populares para los jóvenes de Israel y la temporada alta de viajes coincide con Pesaj. Cada año miles de israelíes celebran la fiesta allí, aunque en un entorno algo menos tradicional.

Este año, la festividad comenzará el próximo sábado 27 de marzo por la tarde y finalizará en la tarde del domingo 4 de abril.
