El Centro Simón Wiesenthal presentará en la Cámara de Diputados de la Nación su informe anual sobre “odio en las redes y ciberterrorismo”. El evento tendrá lugar el miércoles a las 18 y se transmitirá en vivo a través del canal de YouTube de la Cámara Baja del Congreso.

En el evento participará su presidente, Sergio Massa; el diputado nacional Pablo Yedlin; el decano adjunto del Centro, el rabino Abraham Cooper; el director del Departamento competente del Centro, Rick Eaton; y el director del Centro para América Latina, el Dr. Ariel Gelblung.

El organismo internacional de derechos humanos que enfrenta el racismo, la xenofobia, la discriminación, el terrorismo y el antisemitismo tiene su sede central en Los Ángeles y presenta anualmente su informe sobre odio en las redes y ciberterrorismo en el Congreso de los Estados Unidos.

Si bien desde el 20 de enero hay una nueva administración, el Gobierno norteamericano todavía no adaptó su forma de trabajo a la pandemia. Por lo tanto, por primera vez, la exposición mundial tendrá lugar en el Congreso argentino.

El trabajo del Centro Wiesenthal contra el odio en las redes y el ciberterrorismo dio sus primeros pasos cuando internet recién comenzaba a expandirse y se advirtió que podía ser utilizada como una plataforma para diseminar mensajes de odio. Desde entonces, el departamento que trata esta temática creció en prestigio y reconocimiento.

Además, todos los años realiza una evaluación con el objetivo de calificar a los proveedores de redes sociales por su trabajo en términos de prevención de los mensajes de odio. Facebook, por ejemplo, siempre obtuvo la mejor calificación. Pero en 2019 inventó Facebook Live y fue utilizado por un terrorista en Nueva Zelanda que transmitió en vivo la masacre de 52 personas en diferentes mezquitas.

Por su parte, un tiempo atrás, Twitter no tenía pensado limitar o parar los mensajes de odio hasta que el Centro brindó información a la Agencia de Seguridad Nacional de EE.UU. sobre la publicación de 200 mil tweets diarios de odio del ISIS. Como consecuencia, la compañía comenzó a cambiar su política respecto a cómo filtrar este tipo de comentarios.

Massa será el encargado de la apertura del evento, que contará con el diputado tucumano Yedlin como anfitrión. “El Gobierno de Tucumán hace rato que conoce y sigue la tarea del Centro a nivel mundial. Por eso, en 2018 nos invitaron a que hagamos una presentación en la provincia y se generó un espacio donde estudiantes tucumanos ayudaron a investigar cómo se llevaba adelante el mensaje de odio en América Latina. Y por eso, también, este año el anfitrión va a ser un diputado tucumano”, explicó a Infobae el Dr. Ariel Gelblung.

La presentación del informe del Centro Simon Wiesenthal en Diputados estará a cargo del rabino Cooper; Eaton brindará toda la información que se debe saber al respecto; mientras que Gelblung aportará sus conocimientos sobre la región.
