Las urgencias y las grandes dificultades que llegaron, con crudeza, de la mano de la pandemia despertaron en muchas personas la necesidad de hacer algo por los demás: así lo pudo comprobar el área de Voluntariado de AMIA que reforzó los proyectos destinados a generar cercanía y a brindar ayuda y contención.

“Los programas Lebaker, Tejedoras Solidarias y Cuentacuentos fueron los que más crecieron en este tiempo. Con la misma motivación y el mismo compromiso, este año siguen en marcha estas iniciativas. Son un ejemplo de la solidaridad puesta en acción”, destaca Eliana Epelbaum, coordinadora del sector Voluntariado de la institución.

Al referirse a los valores que impulsan las acciones voluntarias de AMIA, Eliana Epelbaum hace referencia a los conceptos de Tzedaká (Justicia social) y Tikún Olam (Reparar el mundo). “Ambos son fundantes de cada uno de los proyectos que diseñamos y llevamos adelante”, señala. “Reparar el mundo de una persona implica trabajo, pero lo hacemos desde el convencimiento de que es ése el modelo de justicia social que buscamos. Por eso, el esfuerzo es siempre mayor. No hay mejor recompensa que saber que la tarea voluntaria que se hace mejora la calidad de vida de quien da y de quien recibe”, advierte.

Los testimonios de quienes participan en Lebaker son una prueba de este doble impacto. El programa, que brinda acompañamiento y apoyo telefónico a personas mayores, con el asesoramiento profesional del Departamento de Programas Sociales, garantizó en tiempos de aislamiento social, el contacto y la comunicación frecuente. A través de llamadas periódicas, muchas personas logran sentirse así cuidadas y contenidas.

Por su parte, las vountarias del proyecto Cuentacuentos mantienen la misma motivación desde el inicio y siguen participando de diferentes actividades. Continúan filmando videos, en los que ponen su voz a decenas de narraciones para compartir la pasión por la literatura con distintos públicos: niños, niñas y personas adultas.

El área de Voluntariado, en conjunto con el área de Personas Mayores, también continúa con el programa “Tejedoras Solidarias”. Por su intermedio se envían a distintas organizaciones sociales las donaciones de prendas que son tejidas a mano por un grupo de 15 mujeres. Ellas ponen en la tarea toda su dedicación y compromiso.

“Cada uno de los programas que desarrollamos en el área de Voluntariado nos acerca, nos potencia, y nos motiva a continuar para hacer un mundo mejor”. Esto afirma Eliana Epelbaum, quien asegura que los vínculos que se forman a partir de las tareas voluntarias crecen, se profundizan y se sostienen en el tiempo.

“Muchos –cuando la situación lo permitió– lograron conocerse en persona. Pudieron, por ejemplo, tomar ese cafecito pendiente Pablo y Oscar, Nora y Silvia. O lograron acompañarse en momentos difíciles, como Rachel, que estuvo atenta a cada detalle de Anita durante sus internaciones. Cada una de las historias que sucedieron fueron encuentros únicos”, remarca Epelbaum.
