Las fuerzas de seguridad de Israel frustraron un intento de contrabando de armas a lo largo de la frontera con Jordania. Incautaron unas 15 armas y realizaron un arresto en el proceso, reveló el ejército.

Durante la noche, los soldados israelíes que operaban con cámaras de vigilancia a lo largo de la frontera detectaron a unos sospechosos “que intentaban pasar armas de contrabando desde el territorio de Jordania a territorio de Israel”, dijeron las FDI.

Por su parte, las FDI, la Policía de Israel y los guardias fronterizos fueron al lugar y detuvieron a uno de los sospechosos, junto con el armamento.

Las FDI, además, afirmaron que las tropas se incautaron de ocho escopetas, tres rifles de asalto Kalashnikov, dos pistolas y una carabina M-16.

El sospechoso palestino y las armas fueron entregados a la Policía de Israel para una investigación más profunda.

En junio, un soldado resultó moderadamente herido por fuego amigo al imperdir un intento de contrabando de armas en la frontera jordana. En esa ocasión, las tropas se incautaron de 21 armas junto con la munición. Las tropas también detuvieron a tres contrabandistas.

A su vez, el mes pasado la policía frustró una operación de contrabando de drogas y armas desde el Líbano supuestamente en nombre de Hezbollah. El grupo terrorista mantiene desde hace tiempo el control de la zona adyacente a la frontera con Israel y podría no saber de las operaciones de contrabando. Igualmente, se sabe que la organización financia sus actividades mediante la venta de drogas en todo el mundo, incluida la producción de grandes cantidades de hachís en el este del Líbano.
