El primer teniente N., quien disparó y mató a dos oficiales del ejército israelí, afirmó que confundió a sus compañeros con terroristas.

Además, dijo que no puede dormir desde el incidente y sufre una gran confusión mental.

El miércoles por la noche, un soldado del ejército israelí identificó erróneamente como terroristas a sus compañeros, el Mayor Ofek Aharon (28) y el Mayor Itamar Elharar (26), les disparó y los mató en el Valle del Jordán.

Según Yediot Aharonot, N. asistió a uno de los funerales, gracias al apoyo y ayuda de su unidad y comandantes.

«Estaba seguro de que eran terroristas», aseguró N. a sus allegados el jueves. «Sentí peligro, tuve miedo, así que disparé».

La investigación inicial reveló que los dos oficiales, ambos comandantes de compañía de la unidad de fuerzas especiales Egoz – unidad de reconocimiento de élite especializada en la guerra de contraguerrillas – acababan de concluir un simulacro en la zona de tiro de la base de Nabi Musa y estaban patrullando alrededor de ella cuando identificaron una figura sospechosa. Comenzaron a realizar el procedimiento necesario para detenerlo, incluyendo disparos al aire.

El portavoz de las FDI, general de brigada Ran Kochav, afirmó que los militares encargaron a un oficial superior la investigación del suceso.

“Se trata de un suceso trágico”, aseveró. “Los dos comandantes, los mejores de nuestros hijos, es una pérdida dolorosa. Cada pocos años se produce un incidente de esta naturaleza. Cuando se trata de una unidad de élite y de soldados tan jóvenes el dolor es peor”, agregó Kochav.

Este viernes, Ido Peretz, primo de Elharar, aseveró: «Mi corazón se niega a creerlo. La noticia es inconcebible. Es muy difícil hablar de Itamar en tiempo pasado. Nada lo traerá de vuelta a nosotros. El soldado que disparó, su mundo también se derrumbó sobre él. Lo abrazo y rezo para que logre elegir la vida».

La policía militar, por su parte, interrogará al soldado N. en los próximos días.
