El Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Honduras confirmó que su país está considerando trasladar su embajada de Israel ubicada en Jerusalén a Tel Aviv.

Enrique Reina, canciller hondureño, dijo que “el tema del traslado de la embajada a Tel Aviv ya fue discutido con la presidenta (Xiomara Castro)”.

Reina, agregó que la modificación “es un tema de interés” para la mandataria, como así también “mantener una relación equilibrada con los demás países árabes e Israel”.

Según los informes, Reina habló sobre el tema con Riyad al-Maliki, ministro de relaciones exteriores de la Autoridad Palestina.

La Embajada de Honduras en Jerusalén abrió en junio de 2021, según reportó Israel National News.

Honduras se sumó a Estados Unidos, Kosovo y Guatemala, que también tienen la embajada en la capital de Israel.

Oportunamente, la Autoridad Palestina condenó el traslado de la embajada a Jerusalén.

Según los palestinos, fue una “violación flagrante del derecho internacional y decisiones claras de la ONU con respecto a la ciudad santa y su estatus legal y político”
