El New York Times publicó el domingo su crucigrama diario en forma de esvástica, horas previas al comienzo de Jánuca.

“Este es el crucigrama del NYTimes hoy en el primer día de Jánuca. ¿Qué demonios, @nytimes?”, decía el tweet del estratega demócrata, Keith Edwards.

Además, en una publicación posterior, Edwards señaló que ningún medio «convencional» cubrió el incidente. “Hasta ahora ni un solo medio de comunicación informó sobre esto”, escribió.

Otro usuario, @kennedytcooper, dijo: “¿Puede alguien explicar por qué el crucigrama del Times es una esvástica el primer día de Jánuca?”.

También se hizo eco de la situación Ariel Kahana, periodista de Israel Hayom, quien afirmó: «A propósito del editorial del New York Times, ¿pueden ustedes niños identificar cuál es la ilustración oculta en el crucigrama del periódico? Y más en la víspera de Jánuca…».

Sin embargo, no es la primera vez que el crucigrama del New York Times tiene un parecido con la esvástica, un símbolo ampliamente asociado con el nazismo.

En 2017, la última vez que esto ocurrió, el Times desestimó las críticas, con la cuenta de Twitter de New York Times Games: “Sí, hola. NO es una esvástica. De verdad de la buena. Nadie se sienta a hacer un crucigrama y dice: “¡Oye! ¿Sabes qué quedaría bien?”.

Por su parte, el Times, hace apenas una semana, le dedicó un artículo de primera plana y dos páginas interiores a una guerra interna que lleva tiempo contra las ieschivor, explicando que «cuando los padres se divorcian, a veces tienen conflictos sobre la educación de sus hijos».
