Sergio Gendler Z’L, el periodista con más de 20 años de trayectoria en los medios, murió el jueves 13 de junio de 2019 en la clínica Fleming de la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Había sido internado una semana antes como consecuencia de la enfermedad de Crohn, una dolencia intestinal inflamatoria crónica.

Sergio entró a TN antes de que el canal saliera al aire por primera vez. Fue uno de sus «periodistas fundadores». Estuvo desde el inicio entre los integrantes del histórico TN Deportivo junto a Juan Yankilevich y Juan Pablo Varsky.

En una entrevista exclusiva que le realizó Diego Szpigiel, nos cuenta su vida.

Desde 1998 hasta el 4 de agosto de 2014 fue columnista de Telenoche, el noticiero insignia de eltrece. En esos 16 años cubrió los Mundiales de 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 y 2014, además de los eventos deportivos más destacados del planeta, como Juegos Olímpicos, Copas América y finales de la Copa Intercontinental y la Champions League.

Entrevistó a grandes personalidades del deporte como Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Roger Federer y Juan Román Riquelme, entre tantos otros. Hizo La Patria Deportiva, un programa de entrevistas, primero con Guillermo Poggi y después con el Rifle Varela, con quien también condujo Toda Pasión.

En ese 2019 Sergio se desempeñaba en Fox Sports, Radio Mitre y La 100. De 53 años, era padre de cuatro hijas y fue diagnosticado hace unos años con la enfermedad de Crohn, una dolencia intestinal inflamatoria crónica que afecta el recubrimiento del tracto digestivo y que, si bien no tiene cura, algunos medicamentos -como los esteroides y los inmunosupresores- suelen aplicarse para lentificar su progreso.

«Cuando el doctor me la descubrió, tuve que ir a Internet a ver de qué se trataba. Me llevó como cuatro años el diagnóstico», había contado en 2011, en un video de la Fundación Más Vida de Crohn & Colitis Ulcerosa.
