Después de haber alcanzado grandes impactos globales con Fauda y Miss Jerusalén, el gigante norteamericano del streaming Netflix apostó ahora por otra serie israelí, Policía de Fronteras, creada por el director de cine Meni Yaish.
Lanzada en hebreo como Mishmar HaGvul (el nombre real de la fuerza policial de fronteras en el país), la serie fue producida por la cadena de cable Hot y tiene en su elenco al popular cantante Shlomi Shabat y al comediante Shalom Mikhalashvili, reportó Israel Económico.
Pero el protagonista principal es el actor Ben Sultan, quien encarna a Avi, un joven rebelde y salvaje de Bat Yam que se une a la Policía de Fronteras con un objetivo particular: saldar cuentas con un grupo de israelíes árabes de Yafo con los que mantuvo algunos negocios turbios.
Según se informó, Netflix adquirió los derechos de la serie y espera comenzar a difundir sus ocho capítulos a finales de este año. Mishmar HaGvul también fue comprada por la principal televisora de Alemania, ZDF, para su plataforma de streaming ZDFneo, donde la presentará doblada al idioma local.
Además de Sultan, Shabat y Mikhalashvili, en la serie actúan también Noa Astangelov, Idan Elieli, Haim Zenati, Morris Cohen, Louis Ali, Meir Tamam, Gal Zehavi, Tikva Gideon, Maya Zefir y Assaf Mor.
En sintonía con otras series que muestran crudamente las historias de las fuerzas de seguridad en Israel y alcanzaron suceso global -como Fauda, Teherán o Manayek-, Mishmar HaGvul también tiene un alto contenido de violencia y situaciones dramáticas.
La serie, dijo Yaish, «está destinada a todos», es «para todo el pueblo de Israel, y espero que lo que se lleven de ella sea la necesidad de hacer autorreflexión».
Entrevistado por el diario Israel HaYom, el director añadió: «espero que la gente diga: ‘¿Qué es?’ ¿Así nos vemos? ¿Así es como sonamos?».

Mientras se espera el estreno a nivel global de Policía de Fronteras (que ya se está emitiendo en la televisión israelí), los abonados a Netflix ya disfrutaron la temporada 4 de Fauda y la segunda de Miss Jerusalén, protagonizada por Michael Aloni, conocido también por su trabajo en otro hit nacional de resonancia mundial, Shtisel.
A principios de este mes se confirmó, además, que los creadores de Fauda, el actor Lior Raz y el periodista Avi Issacharoff, llegaron a un acuerdo con la productora Yes Studios para poner en marcha la quinta temporada de la serie, que seguramente llegará luego a la grilla de Netflix.
En cuento a Teherán, el otro thriller israelí de alto vuelo, la plataforma Apple TV anunció en febrero último la preparación de la tercera temporada, protagonizada siempre por la talentosa Niv Sultan y con el británico Hugh Laurie, famoso por su labor en Dr. House, como estrella invitada.
