Dos reconocidos hoteles en Montevideo, Uruguay, el Hyatt Centric y la cadena Regency, han ejercido su derecho de admisión para no recibir al artista británico Roger Waters en sus instalaciones, según informan medios locales, en medio de la polémica generada por sus declaraciones críticas hacia Israel, que también puso en peligro su estadía en Buenos Aires, Argentina.
La llegada de Waters a Uruguay para un concierto programado este viernes ha suscitado fuertes reacciones debido a sus posturas políticas y a recientes comentarios en los que negó la responsabilidad de Hamas en ataques previos, atribuyendo las muertes a Israel.
Según informes del periodista Pablo Londinsky en Azul FM, los hoteles Hyatt Centric y Regency rechazaron las reservas realizadas por la producción del concierto. Londinsky también reveló que un tercer hotel fue contactado para evitar que aloje al artista.
“Ni siquiera está confirmado que vaya a dormir en Montevideo”, comentó Londinsky, sugiriendo la posibilidad de que Waters viaje directamente a Argentina después de su presentación en el Estadio Centenario. En Buenos Aires, también se han registrado rechazos de reservas en hoteles como Faena y Alvear.
Se espera que Roger Waters se aloje en el Sofitel Montevideo, y el presidente del Comité Central Israelita del Uruguay, Roby Schindler, ha enviado una carta al hotel solicitando que rechace cualquier reserva del artista. En la carta, Schindler describe a Waters como “misógino, xenófobo y antisemita” y advierte sobre el riesgo de contribuir al aumento de la judeofobia en el país al recibirlo.
“Al recibirlo, usted será, aunque no lo quiera, propagador del odio que este señor destila y estará contribuyendo a aumentar la judeofobia en nuestro país”, expresó Schindler en la carta dirigida al gerente general de Sofitel.
Las declaraciones que despertaron el repudio las hizo el cantante días atrás en una entrevista con el abogado y periodista Glenn Greenwald. En esa oportunidad, declaró: “¿Cómo demonios no sabían los israelíes que esto iba a ocurrir? Todavía estoy un poco en esa madriguera de conejo. Quiero decir, ¿no escuchó el Ejército israelí en esos 11, 10 u 11 campos los estallidos cuando sucedieron? ¿Lo que sea que tuvieran que volar para cruzar la frontera? Hay algo muy sospechoso en eso”.
Al ser consultado sobre si puede justificarse la salvaje matanza de civiles perpetrada por Hamas, el británico aseguró que aún no sabe que hayan sido ellos los responsables. Durante la entrevista, evitó reconocer la inobjetable evidencia de los sucesos acontecidos el 7 de octubre en los kibutzim y el festival de música, donde más de mil civiles fueron masacrados a sangre fría por los terroristas.
Asimismo, pese a las pruebas fehacientes presentadas por Israel sobre la muerte de criaturas, el músico había asegurado: “La cosa fue sacada de toda proporción por los israelíes inventando historias sobre decapitación de bebés”.
Y luego se había explayado en su postura diciendo: “Lo que sí sabemos es si fue una operación de falsa bandera o no, o lo que sea que haya sucedido, y no sabemos si alguna vez tendremos una historia real. Siempre es muy difícil saber lo que realmente sucedió. Ellos lo llaman su 9/11. ¿Qué demonios pasó en el 9/11 norteamericano? Nadie lo sabe. Claramente, la narrativa oficial tiene enormes agujeros”.
