El Centro Médico Sourasky de Tel Aviv-Hospital Ichilov ha abierto un conjunto de 10 nuevos quirófanos subterráneos para cirugías ambulatorias. La instalación se encuentra en los preparativos finales y simulaciones médicas y comenzará a atender a los pacientes la próxima semana, informó Enlace Judío.
El nuevo “minihospital” de última generación eleva el número total de quirófanos de Ichilov a 43, la mayor cantidad en un centro médico israelí, y se espera que acorte los períodos de espera, que suelen ser largos, para operaciones relativamente cortas y sin complicaciones que no requieren anestesia general ni estancias hospitalarias pre o postoperatorias.
La nueva instalación, llamada Kissufim en honor a uno de los kibutzim adyacentes a Gaza donde terroristas de Hamás realizaron su matanza asesina el 7 de octubre, ha estado en planificación durante varios años.

El profesor Roni Gamzu, director ejecutivo del hospital, dijo que el nuevo centro demostró que era posible abrir nuevos quirófanos sin agregar una sola cama nueva a las salas del hospital. “Me gustaría ver proyectos como este establecidos en todos los hospitales públicos. No se trata de añadir camas nuevas. Se puede hacer sin eso y los hospitales deben tomar medidas para acortar los tiempos de espera para las cirugías [en el sistema de salud pública]”, dijo Gamzu.
Según Matot, se contrató a 70 nuevos profesionales médicos, principalmente médicos y enfermeras, para trabajar en el centro Kissufim.
Siete miembros del personal, incluidos dos médicos y dos enfermeras, estarán en el quirófano cuando se realice un procedimiento. Inicialmente, el personal se encargará de 30 a 50 cirugías por día por ahora, y los pacientes ingresarán solo por la mañana. Se espera que el número de operaciones aumente una vez que se abran los espacios de la tarde.
“Se realizarán cirugías ambulatorias que generalmente solo requieren anestesia regional como bloqueos nerviosos y tal vez algo de sedación. Estos procedimientos pueden ser cirugías de manos y muñecas, cirugías de oídos para niños, operaciones de hernias y procedimientos artroscópicos”, dijo Matot.
La jefa de operaciones, Ruth Sasportas, destacó que los nuevos quirófanos y el hospital en su conjunto siempre están preparados para ser flexibles y receptivos ante cualquier situación.
“Estos quirófanos también se pueden utilizar para cirugías que requieran anestesia general y estarían disponibles en caso de un evento con muchas víctimas”, dijo.
Mostrando las diversas comodidades de alta tecnología de las salas de operaciones, la enfermera jefe Eti Uziel dijo que algunas fueron diseñadas para que la información del paciente y las imágenes previas a la cirugía estén disponibles directamente en la línea de visión del cirujano. Las pantallas también permiten que todos en la sala vean el procedimiento mientras se lleva a cabo y se comuniquen en línea con expertos en otras partes de Israel o del mundo a quienes se les podría pedir realizar consultas en tiempo real.
Otros elementos de diseño están destinados a maximizar la esterilidad mediante el flujo de aire y otras medidas. También hay un enfoque deliberado en la sostenibilidad y el reciclaje de materiales plásticos que no constituyen riesgos biológicos.
Para acelerar los procesos patológicos, el presupuesto del nuevo centro incluía la compra de un sistema robótico danés por valor de un millón de euros que puede cortar 384 muestras de tejido al día. Esto alivia el cuello de botella que suele provocar el corte manual de muestras patológicas, pudiendo generar resultados en dos o tres días en lugar de semanas.
Según Sasportas, no había duda de que el centro Kissufim se construiría bajo tierra.
