La DAIA se encuentra participando en la mega conferencia «Never is Now», organizada por la Anti Defamation League (ADL) en Nueva York.
El presidente de la DAIA, Jorge Knoblovits, y el director ejecutivo, Víctor Garelik, representan a la entidad en el encuentro que reúne a más de 3500 referentes de comunidades judías de todo el mundo.
En ese marco sesiona el J7, grupo de trabajo de las principales comunidades judías a fin de responder a los crecientes índices de antisemitismo en todo el mundo. Integran el J7 Estados Unidos, Canadá, Reino Unido, Alemania, Francia, Australia y Argentina.
En la primera jornada de trabajo del J7, los países miembro llevaron a cabo una importante agenda política en la que Knoblovits disertó ante la audiencia sobre el 30° aniversario del atentado perpetrado contra la sede de la AMIA-DAIA; el accionar de la entidad tras el ataque del 7 de octubre al Estado de Israel por parte del grupo terrorista Hamás, y sobre su impacto en los casos de antisemitismo en la Argentina.
Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO de ADL; la vicepresidenta de Asuntos Internacionales, Marina Rosenberg y Liat Altman, directora regional para Latinoamérica, recibieron a las autoridades de la DAIA.
En la ocasión, se realizó un intercambio con la Embajadora Deborah Lipstadt, enviada especial de los Estados Unidos para monitorear y combatir el antisemitismo.
Asimismo, la DAIA participó de un diálogo con Jonathan Dekel-Chen, padre de Saguí, secuestrado el 7 de octubre en el Kibutz Nir Oz, que aún permanece cautivo en Gaza.
Como parte de la agenda del J7, que concluirá con un encuentro con el secretario general de la ONU, António Guterres, se abordaron temas como la lucha contra el antisionismo en los distintos ámbitos de la educación, se compartieron estrategias de trabajo para la erradicación del antisemitismo en universidades y en distintas esferas de la sociedad.
Durante la inauguración de la Conferencia Never is Now, disertaron la secretaria Hillary Rodham Clinton; el presidente de Israel, Isaac Herzog y el asesor político, Jared Kushner, entre otras personalidades.
Más de 100 expertos de distintas disciplinas, se encuentran disertando hasta el jueves, día que culminará la mega conferencia en los Estados Unidos.
