La policía de Utrecht (Holanda) se encuentra investigando un incidente en el que un rabino fue golpeado en la cabeza en el centro comercial Overvecht.
El rabino Aryeh Heintz explicó que fue golpeado por un atacante que le dijo que no tenía por qué estar en el centro comercial «vestido como judío».
La víctima ingresó a una tienda, pero el delincuente lo siguió y lo empujó. Heintz dijo que el público intervino para evitar que lo golpearan nuevamente.
El rabino también alegó que la tienda no le permitió permanecer en lel lugar el tiempo suficiente para tomar una foto de su atacante. Heintz afirmó que el gerente lo echó a pesar de que él era la víctima clara. Un portavoz de la tienda cuestionó la historia del hombre, diciendo que a Heintz solo le dijeron que no podía tomar fotografías en la tienda y que podía obtener imágenes de video si fuera necesario.
La policía confirmó que acudieron al lugar después de que se informara del incidente alrededor de las 15:00 horas. El rabino presentó cargos contra el hombre. Los oficiales pudieron obtener imágenes de la cámara del incidente y están llevando a cabo una investigación sobre el caso. La policía informó que aún no ha entrevistado a la otra persona involucrada en el altercado.
Heintz resultó ileso en el ataque y anteriormente había sido objeto de abusos debido a sus creencias religiosas. “He tenido una esvástica en mi puerta antes, pero sobre todo solo maldicen. Realmente notamos que el antisemitismo está empeorando. Pero no dejaré que los terroristas gobiernen mi vida. Si tengo que ir a Overvecht, iré. Quizás tenga un poco más de cuidado”, dijo al periódico.
Heintz, que también tiene vínculos de larga data con Brooklyn, Nueva York, ha sido rabino durante casi 37 años. Trabajó como consejero espiritual en el Ministerio de Justicia y Seguridad durante más de 26 años.
El embajador de Israel en Holanda, Modi Ephraim, se comunicó con el rabino Aryeh Heintz tras el incidente.
«Conmocionado y consternado por el ataque al rabino Heintz en Utrecht. Este odio no debe tolerarse. Es imperativo que las autoridades tomen medidas firmes para combatir el antisemitismo.» Dijo el embajador Ephraim.
