Activistas que abogan por los derechos israelíes en el Monte del Templo celebraron una reunión de emergencia el domingo por la noche para discutir la reciente toma ilegal del complejo de la Puerta Dorada (Golden Gate) por parte del organismo musulmán Waqf.
El área de la Puerta Dorada ha estado cerrada bajo una orden judicial desde 2003 después de que fuera utilizada para el terrorismo, pero el Waqf y fieles musulmanes volvieron a acceder al área y esencialmente establecieron otra mezquita, la quinta en el Monte del Templo.
Varias docenas de activistas israelíes tomaron parte en la reunión para evaluar la situación urgente, al final de la cual pidieron visitas masivas israelíes al Monte del Templo el jueves “para fortalecer el dominio judío en el lugar sagrado“.
También emitieron una demanda para una sinagoga en el Monte del Templo.
Basados en “la violación del status quo en el Monte del Templo“, los activistas pidieron la implementación de la antigua demanda de los rabinos encabezados por el fallecido Rabí Mordejai Eliyahu para establecer una sinagoga en el Monte del Templo en el área de Sha’ar HaRachamim (Puerta de la Misericordia), en la que los musulmanes establecieron recientemente otra mezquita.
La asamblea también emitió un llamamiento para que el Waqf fuera declarado organización ilegal y que fuera prohibido en el Monte del Templo.
Los participantes en la conferencia de emergencia también pidieron a los partidos políticos israelíes que exijan el permiso de oración judía en el Monte del Templo como condición previa para cualquier acuerdo de coalición.
Finalmente, la conferencia pidió al gobierno que promulgue los reglamentos necesarios para definir el Monte del Templo como el lugar más sagrado para el pueblo judío e implementar reglas que permitan la oración judía en el Monte del Templo, que actualmente está prohibido junto con cualquier otra forma de culto no musulmán.
Actualmente, cualquier intento de oración por parte de un judío es frustrado rápidamente por el Waqf y la policía, y los encuentros pueden terminar con el arresto de los fieles judíos.
El área de la Puerta Dorada, conocida por los musulmanes como Bab al-Rahma, permanece abierta a pesar de los intentos israelíes de cerrarla y de violar una orden judicial.
Los musulmanes ven la reapertura del área como una demostración de desafío contra Israel, y la no respuesta israelí a este cambio del status quo en el Monte del Templo, una victoria sobre la presencia de Israel en Jerusalén.

Los musulmanes, así como la organización terrorista Hamás, han amenazado con un estallido de violencia si Israel intenta volver a cerrar el área.
La policía israelí entregó el domingo al presidente del Consejo de Waqf en Jerusalén, Sheikh Abdul-Azim Salhab, una orden que le prohíbe ingresar al complejo de la mezquita de Al-Aqsa durante 40 días, el último líder musulmán en recibir tal orden tras la agitación en el Monte del Templo.
El Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la Autoridad Palestina (AP) “condenó en los términos más enérgicos” a la prohibición “arbitraria” de las autoridades israelíes a la entrada de los funcionarios de Waqf como “una escalada peligrosa destinada a impedir el acceso de los fieles musulmanes a la mezquita y socavar el papel y obra del Waqf”.
El ministerio, en una declaración el lunes, afirmó que “Israel intenta vaciar la mezquita de ciudadanos palestinos y fieles musulmanes, lo que enfatizó que forma parte de sus planes para hacer cumplir la división temporal de al-Aqsa hasta que esté espacialmente dividida“.
El ministerio advirtió sobre las repercusiones de “estas medidas arbitrarias israelíes contra la mezquita de al-Aqsa“, que según él “entran en el marco de la judaización y la alteración del carácter y la identidad de la ciudad de Jerusalén“.
